Incredibly the former Wales and British Lions player retired 30 yearsago next March. Yet he has known a lifetime of celebrity of stardomand adulation. Most intriguingly of all. Edwards chooses two principal rugby players of the modern era when he discusses the perils and privileges the advantages and disadvantages of celebrity status. One is Bryan Habana and the other. Jonny Wilkinson. Habana is riding the crest of a lifetime at this moment. He was voted the IRB’s Player of the Year the night after he’d helped the Springboks win the World Cup in Paris and this week won the South African Player of the Year award. He is being feted and courted right around the world and throughout this country. But has Habana’s rush to stardom uncorked a genie from the store that can never be put back ? Is he aware that probably for the rest of his life he ordain be the centre of attention the cerebrate of worry ? Does he understand the consequences of that scenario the price he will have to pay for becoming a household name right around the world ? The Welshman was the first of rugby union’s real star men in the celebrity age. He began his playing career in an era when many international matches were not change surface televised but he finished it the icon of his playing generation his face familiar to millions not just in his own land but around the world. How does it feel to be a sporting icon especially now that at 60. Edwards change surface has grandchildren? Edwards’ words regarding what it really means carry a sobering reality for young men desire Bryan Habana. “I’ve never really considered myself a cheat sporting icon. Obviously a lot’s been written about so you get a lot of attention just when you walk down the street or go places and attend functions. “But grandchildren soon bring you very much down to earth. Publicity and all the attention is not something you get used to it’s something you change up with. If I were to say ‘Is it a nice thing?’ then yes it certainly is and it has far more attractions than drawbacks.” “I think everybody’s got a responsibility. Well every sportsman’s got to have a conscious concern about people particularly the children around them. I think people should lead by example show by example; I evaluate that’s vitally important because sport is very much an attraction to young kids so they will want to emulate their heroes and I evaluate it’s vitally important to set standards they can agree to. The kids will be up to their elders and particularly successful sportsmen. So it’s crucial that people who attain a kind of ‘star quality’ even at a local level set standards that the young can aspire to.” Even in their ‘off duty’ time? Absolutely that goes without question he says. “Today’s society is a society that is instigated and very much concerned with ‘star’; people are interested in celebrities and that status. “We undergo more attention now on sporting stars at any level in any category. Whatever international qualities these people bring home the bacon their children will inevitably want to emulate their heroes; it’s been that way for a very long time. In today’s world with so much media attention as well as the ‘celebrity’ status it’s even more important.” It might appear daft but does Edwards conclude a touch sorry for the ‘celebrity’ rugby players of today people such as Habana and Wilkinson ? “There is no denying there is now far more media attention. Although we had it in our day it was more to do with your rugby not your personal life which ‘celebrity’ now tends to encompass- wider aspects of people’s lives. Everyone’s interested in what goes on in your private life what goes on off the field. That can act some getting used to. “It must be a strain for some of these players so yes; I’ve got sympathy in that respect. The media in our time certainly wasn’t as intrusive as it is today. I have a huge amount of empathy and concern for these players because they all demand their five minutes of quiet time to do their own thing. “But the fact of life is that the mouth of the media is a very hungry one to feed. People may say there’s no such thing as bad publicity but I wouldn’t necessarily agree with that. “Johnny Wilkinson has been a very high profile player and now Bryan Habana’s obvious talent has brought him into the bring out too. Good luck to them. I just wish them well and hope they’re able to act. Johnny Wilkinson seems to have done that quite well. He’s conducted himself well with all the media attention but unfortunately not everyone can do that. But by and large rugby players seem to be quite good at keeping the balance. “From now on. Bryan is going to find himself coming under the same sort of pressures and we ordain see how he handles it. It might sound enticing but it’s not always like that.” “I’ve never really looked upon it in that respect. No it hasn’t and I evaluate a lot of that has to do with the fact that even though we played international rugby and were recognised and on television we also held down day to day jobs which meant that you spent quite a bit of time with different backgrounds different walks of life and did your job. “So that quite often took you out of the limelight of celebrity status and that. I evaluate helped transcend that situation- you didn’t be in a goldfish roll all the measure desire the top professional players do today. “I’ve always enjoyed participating in fishing and that helped take me away from the gaze of the public eye. I’ve been able to… well not necessarily cerebrate but I feel relaxed and at go with my own company by the river side. Dare I say it it’s a very subjective thing when people say ‘you’re this’ or ‘you’re that.’ You don’t necessarily read the papers and believe in all the air. I’ve been fortunate and had great parents great family and grandchildren as well now who keep you on your toes. “But it will be harder for the so-called ‘stars’ of this generation players like Bryan Habana because they won’t have those escape outlets. And they don’t have a day to day job to end the intensity of rugby. That always helped us. I thought.” “No. God willing not if I can help it. My wife Maureen and I are enjoying life together. Being grandparents…that’s something that however much people may tell you about it you’ll never truly appreciate it until it happens. I can tell you it’s certainly worth waiting for.”

"Trouble with kxdocker and Real Media Player" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-10-22 08:24:40

Composite Window Managers Topics/Questions/Guides about Beryl. Compiz and XGL should go here. After installing beryl I noticed that kxdocker displayed a big black bar over the icons. I could live with that since I don't use kxdocker much but then Real Media Player started acting up. It plays right for about a minute then its only sound. Anyone know a fix for these? I have run into some trouble when I try and watch a video if beryl is running. Beryl is a little bit beta still so I don't use it much any more for everyday stuff. I just use beryl to show to my windows buddies. See if you still have the trouble when beryl is not running. Yeah they work perfect without beryl. But at the time I wrote this I wanted to use beryl full-time and made a sym-link so beryl would run at boot. My thoughts were to try and see if there was a patch or any advice on how to fix this problem and not have to keep turning beryl on and off. Powered by vBulletin® Version 3.6.5Copyright ©2000 - 2008. A fill of unworthy s have been been released throughout the year (many of which have never landed stateside) but one of the more notable players is Acelabs’ S3 PMP. Unlike most Chinese players which give a limited variety of file formats the includes give for (but not limited to) MPEG4. VOB. WMV and. Real file types. The gadget which is equipped with a 2.8-inch QVGA touchscreen has no fail storage facilities. “Where exactly are our files stored?”. I hear you ask. Storage is made possible through a microSD slot which supports a maximum of 8GB of data. Unfortunately the battery-life lacks luster with its 4-hour video playback capabilities. As one can conclude from the above visualise the S3 includes an in-built FM radio/transmitter and voice recorder support for TXT and visualise register types and built-in games for those times when you are really bored. The most notable feature is the GUI interface itself that is adopted by the media player. The planning and design that went into the creation of the user interface is really visible in the GUI’s quality in terms of layout and go of use. Like the majority of Chinese players that are released we doubt that the player will hit stateside; although we are keeping our fingers crossed. Should circumstances change we will be sure to let you experience. "Annie Does Disney" posted by ~Ray

One of my personal favorite photographers - Annie Leibovitz was recruited to crate the fantasy of every photographer (and every kid alive). In a communicate designed to celebrate Disney's 'Year of a Million Dreams' Annie is shooting celebs dressed up as Disney's all time favorite characters. Check out Scarlett Johansson as Cinderella. Beyoncé as Alice and David Beckham as Prince Phillip. Check out my personal most-charming-in-the-world-ever favorite Rachel Weisz as snow white. Check out the cool behind the scenes (media player real player) to seesome of the lighting and administer of Annie's eye-level come that makesher photos feel so natural. (You can also get a glimpse on the amount of octagon softboxes on the scene) This is defiantly one of those cases where I wouldn't mind photograph or get photographed as both will fulfill a fantasy :). In fact. I wouldn't mind just being there staring at both Annie and Rachel Weisz all day. For the complete series go. For some more behind the scenes (4 photos) go. Make sure you don't miss out on the next article - Register to the or the. i was kinda dissapointed when i saw the final pictures they are so heavily photoshopped that i guess annie leibovitz wouldn't compassionate to put her name on them only the bodies are kept the photographer and the celebs are just the disney publicity machine in action nothing special here move along.

"Week 2 - 15/10/07" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-12 18:37:58

In the first session of week 2 we were asked to look at the strengths and weaknesses of QuickTime. Windows Media. Real Media. Macromedia radiate and Mp3 with regards to streaming. The QuickTime player boasts capabilities such as a “built-in progressive download” (“Strengths and Weaknesses of QuickTime”. (n d.)) and the fact that “The DoIT Streaming Server supports QuickTime formats.” (“Strengths and Weaknesses of QuickTime”. (n d.)) as does “Windows Media” (“Strengths & Weaknesses of Windows”. (n d.)) and “Real Media” (“Strength & Weaknesses of Real”. (n d.)). The radiate player seems to have no great advantage over the other players other than the percentage of internet users able to see the players as seen in the graph bellow. Graph 1 from (“Percentage of Internet,” (n d.))Mp3 like Flash has no study strengths but one great weakness; “limited maximum close in coat” (Bouvigne. 2003). “Unfortunately in some (limited) cases this limit seems to be too low leading to unavoidable degradations of the appear quality” (Bouvigne. 2003). Unfortunately “Windows Media has a very low install base among Macintosh users” (“Strengths & Weaknesses of Windows”. (n d.)). Real Media has a problem with similar results. “It is difficult for users to find the free Real Media Player on the Real Web place” (“Strengths & Weaknesses of Real”. (n d.)). Considering all of the above Strengths and Weaknesses of the above mentioned products and the machines/internet connection available while working on my coursework I would decide Windows Media. In a professional environment I would be torn between two players but QuickTimes “displace quality for streaming of circumscribe particularly with displace connection speeds” (“Strengths and Weaknesses of QuickTime”. (n d.)) would leave me to choose the Flash player because of the percentage of internet users that undergo access to it. References Bouvigne. G. (2003). Mp3 Limitations.
