"UK & Most of Europe to Get Satellite Radio by 2010" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-04-20 03:56:54

I am from Europe and can tell you why air radio is not in Europe. Because they don??™t be it and wont pay for it! The radio stations they have are amazing great music great news and text scrolling to you radio from every station you tune to with information ranging from song playing to web place info to command warnings etc. In addition to that all the European Union shares radio stations with each other; for example Rai radio from Italy plays in almost every other country and so on. In addition add to that that people don??™t pay for satellite or cable there because they undergo the same system with the TV. At any given inform there are about 70 channels ranging from CNN International and Euro MTV to local stations for free! Also Europe has something called TELETEXT. Each bring has its own TELETEXT with information that is informative and amazing. It is like the internet but on the TV; for example lets say you be the local weather you turn on the TV go to the local channel and touch the TELETEXT button. From there it gives you several choices with numbers next to them. You act till the TV scrolls to the desired answer and press that be on the remote while you are in TELETEXT mode. Let??™s say I touch 143 and then I get a summon that tells me the weather. Other channels tell me the bus plan and others news and lotto numbers etc. The truth is that the people pay for it when they pay taxes part of the money goes to obtain public access to all the study European channels.

"Sam Adams: Patriot, Brewer, Bully" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-20 23:57:34

I want to be clear from the start. There are people who have been bashing the for a long time for a variety of reasons. I’m not one of those people. I like Jim Koch and think he’s done more good than harm to promote better beer to an ever-widening audience of consumers. I evaluate Samuel Adams Boston Lager is a fine-tasting if somewhat unremarkable beer. When choices are thin. I’ll happily drink one which is something I won’t do with several other high-profile popular beer brands. And the specialty beers Jim has made include some really terrific beers that undergo truly stretched the imagination and the very definition of what beer is. That being said. I think Jim Koch is getting some awfully bad advice. First there was the ill-conceived radio talk show stunt that Boston Beer was involved with which challenged a couple to undergo sex in a church. Many were not amused — though personally I could have cared less — and there was some public relations fallout from the incident. Now there’s a new flap that’s not doing Jim Koch any favors and I think the blame rests squarely with his advisors and their poor handling of it. The story concerns Portland. Oregon’s new candidate for mayor: Sam Adams. No not the long-dead patriot and signer of the Declaration of Independence. And not the historical brewer personage that the Boston Beer Co appropriated for their own use in 1984. No this Sam Adams has been around since 1963 or at least 21 years before the beer mark was trademarked. This Sam Adams is running for the mayor of beertown. Portland. Oregon. When current mayor. Tom Potter who’s led the Oregon Brewers Festival Parade two years in a row announced he would not be running again popular City Commissioner Adams stepped up and announced his candidacy to be the city’s next mayor. Two DJs from in Portland. Dave Anderson and attach Mason registered the domain names and on behalf of the candidate and promised to furnish them to Adams provided he went on their show to discuss politics which he subsequently did. In the meantime. Boston Beer’s Intellectual Property Manager. Helen Bornemann got wind of the web addresses and fired off a boilerplate cease and desist earn without apparently doing any research whatsoever or even picking up a phone to ask anyone about the domain names. I’m no lawyer though I did bring home the bacon in a law office for eight years and I’m also married to one but that strikes me as a pretty sloppy.

"So Close and Yet" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-03 21:31:09

A. Text *97.7 while the song is playing the radio stations commerce provider gets the text and the song is emailed/dropped in your music locker. B. Press the magic "I be it" add on that new car radio and the broadband connection dials up the provider and gets the song delivered to you. C. Press the and say "that song" which gets the song currently playing on your radio delivered alter to you. If you like 'smooth play' there is a great radio displace in LA. 94.7. The Wave. A really well done station. The. They have an option so you can comprehend to the displace live. They use to power the streaming radio. Canadian affiliate thanks for asking. In addition. 94.7 has a e-store where you can buy the songs they play. That hold on is powered by TuneGenie which is really powered by Puretracks. You can. The store basically has the compete lists of what the station is playing and for.99 each you can buy the tracks as WMA files. All fine and dandy except for one glaring brain act involuntarily: Nothing is linked together and the UI for all of this is a disaster. As you click around the hold on load up some songs into the shopping cart. Then write in your label. Then put in an address from any country except the US. Yeah you can't buy anything. But for sure they make you go through a clump of hoops before telling you about it. The TuneGenie guys clearly blew this despite trying to be major cute with all the flash cram in the application. It's annoying but thanks for getting the province thing right. But the bigger air? None of this solves that instant gratification problem. The claim moment somebody is grooving on a song and wanting it is the claim moment you should be providing an instant friction remove way for the customer to get the song not 25 clicks. Memo to Streamtheworld: new revenue source; aisle 3. Add the buy it now button to your streaming app act a cut and off you go. Or buy the TuneGenie guys get some UI back up and make one app. Memo to the rest of you: There are tons and tons of opportunities to pull pieces together get it right and make some create verbally. [align note on Internet communicate] I have to give 94.7 credit for really doing a great job of exploiting the fact there are populate listening from around the globe. On the morning show. Pat Prescott alter references to listener comments requests etc from the Internet displace. She calls out the oppose and makes a point of telling the Internet folks go on write up. I listen to the displace when home in Toronto and it's a great piece of work. Listening to LA merchandise reports and the commercials about being able to mouth to my house tomorrow is also good for a snicker or two. Yes. I've wanted a service desire this for many years now. Just wished for it again as I listened to a great song on the control home tonight. I hardly ever buy music but I sure would load up if it was an impulse buy. I'm sure there are lots of hurdles to beat to make this bring home the bacon but whoever can get this right would make a killing. come up we're not quite there - we offer that instant gratification "getting" if you're listening in our music client but otherwise the function is pretty similar. We also have mobile streaming and "getting" on our roadmap so you'll be able to do much of that with us soon. Getting there getting there.... First a disclaimer. I bring home the bacon for Music to Go the creator of the TuneGenie music store. That said we are restricted from selling music outside of the US based on our licensing with the record labels - we are licensed to ONLY change in the US. And to that end we sell ONLY thru US radio stations. That said. I would agree that a notification somewhere upfront might be useful that we sell only to holders of US credit cards. I'll register a bug and see if we can get it fixed in the future. As for your instant gratification thoughts watch for our new product that is a scaled-down version of the hold on embedded in a radio station's website near you. This ordain be released across on of the big 5 radio groups within a week or so and should then spread beyond. Soon after it ordain be embed-ible on the various portal sites - myYahoo iGoogle etc.
