inform: NFL weighing Patriots' punishment for spying September 11. 2007 NEW YORK (AP) -- The NFL reportedly is considering punishing the for spying on the in their season opener. ESPN com citing league sources reported Tuesday that commissioner Roger Goodell has determined the Patriots violated unify rules Sunday when they videotaped defensive signals by the Jets' coaches. But the report also said the Patriots have not yet presented their case to the league. The Web site's report said Goodell is considering severe sanctions including docking the Patriots "multiple compose picks." A league spokesman however said only that an investigation is under way. Both teams said no decision has been made. NFL security confiscated a video camera and tape from a Patriots employee during New England's 38-14 victory Sunday. The employee was accused of aiming his camera at the Jets' defensive coaches as they signaled to players on the field. Last season the had an issue with a man wearing a Patriots staff credential who was carrying a video camera on their sideline. "The rule is that no video recording devices of any kind are permitted to be in use in the coaches' booth on the handle or in the locker room during the bet," the unify said Monday in a statement from spokesman Greg Aiello. "Clubs have specifically been reminded in the past that the videotaping of an opponent's offensive or defensive signals on the sidelines is prohibited. "We are looking into whether the Patriots violated this command." There also are questions regarding the Patriots' use of radio frequencies during the game. Patriots owner Robert Kraft was asked when he expected a verdict but said those questions had to be directed toward Goodell. "There is an investigation going on now and perhaps an adjudication of it and I think it would be inappropriate at this time to make any comment," Kraft told reporters at a charity appearance Tuesday. "When you're successful in anything a lot of people desire to try to take you drink and do different things. We understand that. "We worked very hard to try to put an organization together that we all could be proud of in New England and we're very proud of the New England Patriots organization and the record that they've established over the last 13 seasons and one game."be last-minute expert conceive of football advice? check Sundays at noon ET/9am PT
Losing next year's 3rd go pick would be fair. Enough to "cause to be perceived" but not too harsh to affect the competitive balance of the unify.

The Patriots have already hurt the "competitive fit" of the league. Stealing plays--especially defensive plays--is like having an extra offensive player on the field. Minimum of a first round draft choice since Goddell is so much into "personal care" image now.

I'll admit taking a 1st would be consistent with Goddell's current wave of rulings..... but I thought a lot of those rulings were too harsh too.
"Boys will be Boys""Raiders ordain be Raiders"Patriots aren't supposed to be Raiders
I bet every team does it to some extent. They just got caught. I'm surprised no one's tapped into the wireless signals from the headsets they all feature
They cheated. Did NY lose in any way because they cheated?Probably not but it's comfort unfair. It is a big deal. A surly but great coach.. caught cheating. arrange on measure for The Patriots. If we're bagging on Barry Bonds for being caught in a cheatingscandal as come up as McGwire and Sosa and even USC w/the ReggieBush be etc. why not bag on The Patriots? It is cheating. It is against the rules. It shouldn't belaughed off. If Bonds is being bashed for what he allegedly, likely did we should hold The Patriots to a high standardfor what they knowingly did and were caught at. The coach knowingly set up a cheating fixture. It's such a good team on its own. Why bother? It really does act away from what the team hasaccomplished it is a big stain on their legacy. I think they should lose a first go draft choose to set upa standard. 2nd go at the very least. The coach should also be suspended for at least one game. Plus a big book. alter an example of the team. If a player is caught cheating he is suspended fined losesmoney etc. The same thing should happen to the organization for what isan organization challenge. The instruct is the organization. It's hisstaff. transfer picked. Being a San Diego Charger fan. I know that many have thoughtthey undergo been cheating for a long measure w/spies cell.
