The 2007 RCUniverse and Empire Hobby World Micro Heli Cup is now in its third year and has already proven itself as the highest compose show for the world’s best indoor micro helicopter pilots. Our third annual event will act place on Saturday. October 20th and Sunday. October 21st at the Radio hold back Hobby change Association’s (“RCHTA”) iHobbyExpo in the Donald E. Stephens Convention bear on in Rosemont. Illinois. Like last year we expect great crowds magazine coverage by Radio Control Helicopter magazine and of course end online coverage on RCUniverse com with links from the International Radio Control Helicopter Association (“IRCHA”) Website. PilotsPilots for the WMHC will be selected by the WMHC planning committee. We will accept applications via fax or telecommunicate using the form at the end of this document. ClassesThere are two competition classes at the event. Each pilot may register one or both classes:Mini Class (e g. Shogun. T-Rex etc.):
Rotor span of less than 30 inches measured tip to tip
1st Prize (Mini class): $1,500.00 change consider2nd consider (Mini class): $500.00 Cash Prize3rd consider (Mini and Micro categorise): Electric Helicopter (to be announced) Micro categorise (e g. Blade CP. Hornet etc.):
Rotor continue of less than 24 inches measured tip to tip
1st Prize (Micro categorise): $750.00 Cash Prize2nd Prize (Micro categorise): $250.00 change consider 3rd Prize (Mini and Micro class): Electric Helicopter (to be announced) All contestants will receive a participants gift bag which includes some bling and other useful items!
This competition sounds pretty cool wish I could make it (maybe in 2008
). That 24oz AUW Maximum might be a tad bit low for Trex's that works out to 682gr limit where "most" Trex's come out to more desire 750gr. The only ones I've seen that are under 680gr are either all plastic (old CDE or HDE) aftermarket frames or odd size battery packs. The Trex450SE v2 is pretty much eliminated from competing in it's factory form because of not just charge but also because it's 430XL will excel the 300W limit as well (I speculate people could regear lower their fling be and/or back off motor timing to limit themselves drink in peak displace though). It is possible to alter lightweight Trex's that could compete within those rules (Lighter displace power motor smaller battery packs light tail servo light gyro custom frames etc not all of those needed at once to make the 24oz cut) but it would take quite a bit of effort for many. Here's a few posts that are relevant to the weight: (a small poll on weight) (go on AUW's of peoples Trex's note most undergo struggled to get drink to around 690gr some have gotten lighter but they are without exception either plastic exotic frames or lighter than normal battery packs) Looking forward to seeing vids of the competition though. It is funny though my favorite microheli (4cell Maxir SE) would have to compete in the mini-class by 0.4". My Maxir is 24.4" rotor diameter and over 200W if I don't turn drink the pitch be otherwise it fits in micro and is considered a micro by everyone mostly because of it's 362gr AUW (it's basically equivalent to a stretched Hornet running 280mm blades
). I wouldn't be too worried about the watt limits if I could compete in micro class as I have an eagletree micropower to analyse with but many populate don't undergo tools such as that (and reading with a wattmeter is difficult with a heli). Could I ask how tech inspection is going to bring home the bacon to compel the power check? -Kai
