Any content that VLC could play. The more on the disc the merrier. MPEG4 perhaps with a reasonably viewable size for any disk publishing or submission. I'd go with the same for a download library. But I'd also format for flash video play. Using the new flash higher res potential streaming that would be great. But if download or CD is the only economical option whatever is great with me. If somebody can evaluate out blender they can surely evaluate out playing video with codecs right? whatever the hell you decide alter it playable on tv as well. And yes i allready voted on the poll. I'd first go for a standard dvd viewable on any television set dvd player and the second choice would be playing it on the pc. I'd desire mpeg or divx or change surface xvid most dvd players can handle that nowadays and they don't need to be expensive too. I don't specifically compassionate about whether or not VLC can play it if only because it plays practically anything so I don't expect less of it… but I want to be able to see it on the tv it's a lot more relaxing and less distracting to watch than behind a computer check. I quite disagree with the more the merrier if the quality is good you don't be more space to crank in the same be of circumscribe. People with little measure will more likely watch a few well done vids that are short and to the point than a gazilion videos that act beating around the furnish all the time. (3dbuzz anyone well some of their vids anyway)And just because someone takes the time to learn blender doesn't mean he should experience all the latest video codecs or undergo the bandwidth to stream everything in radiate. Just go for old and proven tech on this. You reach more populate with it and you alter more people happy with it. and whatever you do PLEASE! I BEG of you… DON't go for WMV!!!!! it's hell to play on anything other than windows… 1.) certainly won't be free as each package ordain feature around 8 to 12 hours of training with a lot of stuff in it. 2.) For the first group there ordain be no DRM on the content doing a "I trust you won't let me down by pirating this Package that took several months to act…". If I find that the Community is failing to obey with the previous sentence I will be forced to compel some sort of DRM but I will believe that everyone will make a good judgement on this. 3.) transfer option gives you another deal of affect:First it ordain be around 16GB for download and not that many people can afford to download such amount. Second. I can save on packaging make the content cheaper but then I will have to pay for a huge monthly bandwidth for such downloads and mirrors of course. And then you undergo the other thing. I intend to sell a beat package small printed inlet alter package you can put next to your other DVDs and so on. Also take into be that most people like to undergo a physical package instead of a download. So the idea to use download instead is put on the shelf for now. Let stick to the sign question please. 4.) On on the problem of using the circumscribe on iPods and wathever. I mentioned already that there wasn't going to be any DRM on the circumscribe meaning that if you buy it you can re-encode for your iPod or any other device as desire as you keep it for your own usage and don't distribute it. 5.) On the pricing. I can't talk about this right now but I promise you ordain know in a month from now. 6.) Just answering some questions. It will be between 8 to 12 hours of training on a single topic like animation or modeling. There is plan for 30 Packages of Training each containing 2 Double Layer DVDs (around 16GB per package). transfer is not an option right now it will be in a back up re-create. Format for DVD-ROM should be Quicktime but if everyone wants it let it be XVid. I personally find Quicktime a good option when cross-platform is intended and also see much more quality on it then with XVid but I don't mind encoding in XVid. The circumscribe will be provided by several Blender users you all might experience but I won't get into that until contracts are signed and everything is create from raw material. HD formats are too fragmented (thanks a lot corporate overlords) to be generally useful alter now. Neither disc format will "win" but h264 quicktime/avi files probably will. My favorite format for this case would be a DVD-ROM with media playable on a computer. An HDTV has the necessary resolution but I don't sit two feet away from it with my own copy of Blender at my fingertips. SD-DVD needs lots of editing to be usefull: none of the buttons are readable and with normal compression fits "only" 1 hour of video. ( 80 minutes ) RCAS says he be to alter menus for dvd. I think you will be to make menus for dvd-rom as well. People need to be able to sight the circumscribe not just by looking at a directorie. Tutorials want easy scrolling (so no mpeg) easy access (99 chapters might not be enough) high resolution pictures. I'd go for dvd-rom.* Its compatible with all hardware and operating systems (dvds are PAL or NTSC)* Its high resolution ( change surface 800×600 is raizor sharp )* Easy access via html menu. (backward) scrollable directory structure.* Easy add-ons like web circumscribe and picture gallery.* Fits many ours of circumscribe (tutorials do tent to eat time to explain a simple thing).* Cheap to make so gets the be of the product drink.* Clients all own a computer not all of them own a dvd player. 1. Do you really check tutorials on the TV?I usually watch them on my PC with the programm I'd desire to learn open. 2. Blender is change state obtain software so please publish your videos in an open video codec Theora or Dirac. Only these codecs can be played on really all computers without any patent or license problems. Please no Quicktime or WMV! "Media can breed more media" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-12 07:53:56

When our publicists mouth pitching national media outlets for our clients we experience the producers are going to ask for footage of previous interviews. Not only do they want to see the compose's stage presence but also whether they are entertaining and informative on the air. Previous interviews often answer as "pre-interviews" for additional opportunities. In each of the examples mentioned above authors were able to create additional interest because of how come up they did in their sign booking. So what can authors do to prepare to go on the air? How can you alter the most out of each opportunity you get to converse about your book?I always advise that authors be a media training workshop before their first interview. If you are working with a publicist some firms change surface include media training as a required activity before they will begin pitching a client to top media contacts. Why?How an author does on the air reflects on the publicist as much as it reflects on the compose. If a publicist recommends an unprepared author for a national television spot and they bomb on-air who do you think that producer ordain accuse? The publicist. Relationships between publicists and members of the media can be damaged if the publicist offers an unprepared guest or interview opportunity. Most media training sessions involve consume interviews sound byte development tips for what to feature how to alter for an interview and variety other things. As an example of some of the nuances we cover in our media training here are a few tips we go over: - carry two copies of your book with you to the interview. One to use on set as a visual during the converse one to give to the producer. It's always a good idea to leave a signed write of your schedule with the entertain when you leave the converse as a convey you. It's a small communicate but shows your appreciation.- If you undergo an upcoming signing or even you are promoting bring a note card that lists the event details (who what when where.) Hand it over to the producer before the interview and they might affix the information on the station's website or undergo the info be on the bottom of the check during the interview.- To avoid slouching during the interview and to represent the best be language try sitting in the middle of your head verses against the back of the chair. This will help you keep good posture and makes you look more engaged in your conversation with the host.- Don’t feature a solid color solid white or bright red furnish to a television interview because it will make you be either washed out or too dark depending on your tinct. Homework assignment: check at least five interviews this pass and evaluate about what you notice about the interviewee. What are they doing come up? Where are they making mistakes? One thing that has definitely struck me since I discovered Phenix & Phenix’s blog is just how thoroughly your team dots its ‘i’s and crosses its ‘t’s with all things promotional for its clients’ literary fruits. Rusty you undergo just mentioned a be of things to alter sure an author does that undergo never crossed my object. This ordain surely appear crazy or put another way ordain surely beef up any existing ideas that there is something seriously wrong with me but if I ever have the happy day bring home the bacon where the opportunity exists and it is worth while to do media promotions of my novel/s. I currently intend to do them wearing a koala feature head. See. I told you there is something seriously do by with me...

"Jennifer Jones: Storytelling: The Key to Making Social Media Work" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-07 16:08:22

I undergo the opportunity to work with large companies in the implementation of their social media programs. Much of my most recent corporate work has been with 's Ken Kaplan who is the air and new media manager for Intel's Global Communications assort. He and I have discussed lately how important storytelling is to Intel's social media success. Being able to cerebrate ideas and information through stories rather than just through the presentation of facts is what makes much of communication come alive. populate's passion for what they experience and do gets illustrated through storytelling in Intel's podcasts videopodcasts and blogs. Teaching executives how to storytell has been a well-used public relations tactic for many years but I accept the ability to storytell is truly reaching a new level of importance given the prevalence of social media. However. I am struck when I watch vblogs and comprehend to podcasts how many people today are not storytelling with social media. They don't undergo a beginning middle and end to their pieces but instead often just enumerate facts and thoughts and don't connect the information so that the viewer/listener etc gets the inform of the podcast video blog etc. I speculate it comes drink to media training for many of these individuals or maybe others don't conclude as strongly as I do about this need for storytelling? I'm reminded of a scene from "Planes. Trains and Automobiles" where Steve Martin is berating John dulcify's engrave with. "and when you're telling a story have a point! It makes it so much more interesting for the listener!" Proper speech/story construction is a hallmark of good communications. I worry the lack of storytelling is not confined to social media. I guess most communicators especially writers believe in and practice story-telling when defined simply as a piece of writing with a beginning middle and end. However when we offer story-telling as a solution and don't define it. I think non-communicators become frustrated and detached because story-telling undefined can mean many things. I advise all of us who use the term story-telling to give context examples and a simple definition so our readers and clients understand what we are recommending. Terrific affix! You're absolutely alter of cover. Storytelling is an art but it is also somewhat of a science. There ought to be a primer on social media and storytelling. Just yesterday. I was conducting a training session on social media for a client. I passed on three key learnings essential for good storytelling: Glad to comprehend from everyone and know that others see the importance of storytelling. It is hard to do and Michael. I liked your tips. I hope others weigh in and give their thoughts. I pinged Ken Kaplan of Intel who is a great believer in storytelling to comment as he came out of the news business where storytelling is a must if a reporter is to survive long-term. These are great comments. In my marketing learn. I make storytelling the number one goal for any social media tactic. The problem I see is that people are so used to telling 'stories' in their daily life that they drop that stories for customers undergo to be thought through and properly constructed. They need to be reminded that these are not like messages for an answering machine :) You said the word "vblog" and that provides a hint to why there is a lack of formal storytelling coordinate. Blogs rarely express stories like this entry they are half-baked ideas thrown out into the world to catch the eye of fellow thinkers and be developed into more developed forms like essays. To direct against a blogpost that it doesn't express a story is like complaining a poem doesn't get to the point. That point's muddled of cover by the fact that many folks use blogging software for multiple purposes from running magazines to cerebrate collections. But the heart of a blog (and tumblelogs change surface more so) is a bunco pithy moment of insight and/or questioning. Now podcasts are another story since they can be audio blogs or audio magazines or internet communicate on demand-- they are only a distribution channel and have yet to undergo structural conventions put upon them. If populate are foolishly ignoring good structure in their podcasts they are dooming themselves to the little exclamation point in iTunes that says "you don't listen we've stopped updating." You can't examine audio only act or abandon. But of cover choice of coordinate of your social media "posts" should be less about conforming to the conventions of the medium and more about intent of the content creator. If you be to "think out loud" or if you be to act a growing readership you format your creative work differently. You get a larger audience via the compelling conventions of storytelling (and essay writing!). change surface a comment can direct that form... When I was working on my book every chapter every paragraph I asked myself "what am I trying to say." I evaluate the question "what am I trying to do" also helps.
