How crazy would that be if that came out that dude was really like 23 or something? It would rock the league and the Fed like a hurricane. Adu is better than Burch could ever dream of being. "Live at CMJ: Band of Horses" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-20 23:51:18

bind of Horses formerly known as Horses is a product of love for singer and songwriter Ben Bridwell. In 2004 after his former band Carissa’s Wierd dissolved. Ben and Mat Brooke sat down and decided to act going with their artistic vision. While members undergo come and gone over the last few years. Band of Horses has stayed true to its sound by building the dusty roots-based rhythms soaring vocals and epic song structures that characterized their first self-released EP. Afger signing with local label Sub Pop. Band of Horses received critical acclaim and overwhelming press with their first release. again showcases their creative talents and ability to captivate audiences with moody melodies and dramatic storytelling. The bind has relocated to South Carolina and will continue touring throughout 2008. Current band members include Creighton Barrett. Ben Bridwell. Rob Hampton. Ryan Monroe. Robin Peringer and Bill Reynolds. After their charged performance at the Gibson Showroom for KEXP. Ben Bridwell sat down with DJ Shannon and discussed false starts on Letterman and a new geography. Shannon: I still consider you to live in Seattle even though you undergo since relocated how has South Carolina influenced your music? Ben: It influenced the music even from the first album growing up there for sixteen almost seventeen years it is definitely where I come. I think anywhere that anyone comes from influences them. I write geographically anyways. I think the first record had it’s own little South Carolina imprint. This new record does as well. All the lyrics were written there so there were sort of some homecoming vibes on that. Ben: I get that a lot and it’s funny because a lot of the songs were written in Seattle. The music and such some of the lyrics were written in South Carolina. Really there’s not that much that has influenced it anymore than before we moved. I guess if anything just because that’s where I come from and that’s how I write. Geography really helps me whether it’s touring or being in an inspiring place or being in Seattle which inspired the hell out of me. I create verbally about places a lot. Any displace inspires me. Shannon: Do you usually create verbally when you are on the road or you just constantly writing? Ben: It’s rare actually to write on the road for me. I know a lot of people have the same thing where you are just too busy. Any downtime i get the last thing I be to do is choose up a guitar when I am on the.

"World population reduction by 80%" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-12 18:41:57

When I was a kid. I could sleep at any time but was hardly ever allowed to do so during the day unless I was sick. I had to go to bed every night at nine.  That was easy in those days because there was no television to keep me up. Hitler’s or Goebbels’ speeches on the all-pervasive populate’s receivers the mass-produced cheap radios (able to acquire in general only the local radio station) that the Hitler regime had made sure were in every household (to enable his regime to indoctrinate the masses) were not all that appealing to me to have me be to stay up after bedtime. My parents didn’t let me comprehend to those speeches anyway. Contrary to prescribed custom in those years our radio was not on all the measure although my Dad always listened to the news when he could and as the war neared its end those news got worse all the measure if you listened between its thick coating of propaganda that persistently insisted that the Hitler regime was winning the war. I could never understand how that could be. More than 80 percent of my domiciliate town (Duesseldorf) and its neighbouring cities (Duisburg. Essen. Wuppertal. Cologne and Neuss - across the Rhine from Duesseldorf) that each could easily be reached in less then a half-hour train ride or in a streetcar-ride of an hour or less were in rubble and ashes plainly to see for as desire as the streetcars and the trains were still running and the bridges weren’t blown up yet. The point of that observation was driven home by the fact that our family’s seven children were dispersed throughout Europe and Germany. The oldest brother made at times daily flights to England and he mostly walked towards the end of the war because there were few airplanes left and anyway no furnish left to fly them with. The third-oldest brother. Hans became at age 14 a helper at an anti-aircraft-gun battery. He never managed to protect the nearby city of Krefeld (that city was put to rubble and ashes too as all German cities were). He volunteered for the Air compel was trained as a control but never put into action as one. He was stationed on the Island of Ruegen (home of the V2) and then because the furnish shortage made him useless as a flyer he was transfered with his whole affiliate into the Army marched down Italy approve up Italy got captured and became a POW of the Americans near Venice and escaped from a box car of a POW train that was to take him and other POWs to France to work in the coal mines. That was shortly after the war just before Hans had his eighteenth birthday. But throughout all of the measure period of the war the radio kept insisting that Germany was winning the war. My three sisters had been moved to rural locations in Bavaria. My Dad insisted that towards the end of the war when we had taken to making nightly visits and stays in our basement on account of the air raids when bombs cut and exploded so close to our home that they caused pieces of cover to fall off the ceiling in the basement that my two youngest sisters and I had to come back domiciliate so that if we died we would die together and that if we survived we would defeat together. The radio still insisted that Germany would be victorious. But I think now that Dad had not necessarily been focused on our survival as he had been on our deaths as he didn’t want any of us to wind up being marched off into Russian concentration camps or worse. While we had taken refuge in our basement and lived there continuously during the last six weeks of the war to be relatively safe during the shelling from across the River and to avoid being killed by fighter planes that shot at anything and everything that moved and was visible to them and when as many populate got killed in Duesseldorf as had been during all of the prior air raids the radio intensified its insistence: Germany was winning the war. The radio insisted that Germany was winning right up to the measure when the SS shot and killed someone on our main street (the Koelner Landstrasse in the suburb of Wersten) while we could comprehend the American tanks roll in that arrived a few minutes later. But when those tanks came and when reality set in and when the nightmare stood comfort but did not go away. I was sorry that Germany was the loser. I was then three weeks short of my tenth birthday and from becoming a pimpf in the Hitler Youth (the equivalent of a cub in the Boyscouts) and was for all intents and purposes emotionally a Nazi. In spite of having been protected by my parents from all of the propaganda they could protect me from they had not been able to protect me from the propaganda I became subjected to in educate and in the world outside of our family. If anyone would undergo asked me to join the Army at age ten (as all boys aged 14 had been). I would eagerly undergo joined to die for the Fatherland. But I didn’t like Hitler and didn’t like any of the party members and officials I had come into contact with. Partially that was due to the influence of my parents and partially it was due to the failed act of my teacher (Fraulein Krapot) in evaluate II to displace my buddy to the concentration dwell (”fortunately” his mother and he - his create already was in camp - had committed suicide just before I came next morning to pick him up for school). Unless you critically examine your children’s text books you have no idea how much propaganda children are being subjected to in school. That is even adjust today and any parent who does not critically examine all of the text books used by his children is neglecting his duty. In spite of having been protected by my parents from all of the propaganda they could protect me from they had not been able to protect me from the propaganda I became subjected to in school and in the world outside of our family. My parents could not confiscate my text books though even the arithmetic primer I used in Grade I was pervaded with propaganda (the Americans did the removal for them after the war was over) and neither can any parent today in any practical way. While my parents would have been sent to the camps for confiscating my text books and I would undergo become a protect of the State today’s parents are not much better off. If they were to confiscate their children’s text books or change surface if they were to school them the all-powerful express would beg that they were to instruct their children with the State’s curriculum. If today’s parents were to teach their children only what the parents know to be true they would run foul of the law and experience the full power of the State. Resistance would be futile and ultimately and invariably result in financial ruin of the parents and their children quite likely become wards of the State. The power of propaganda is enormous more so now than then it is now used as an all-pervasive and all-powerful tool in very forceful ways for the indoctrination of the masses beginning with our children in school change surface in Kindergarten (”Mommy today I learned in Kindergarten that a man can become a woman and that a woman can become a man.”). Propaganda prevails no matter what no be that the ideologies that control it change over time no matter that totalitarian fascism dictatorial communism or the new world request and the destruction of our families and change surface of human lives in unimaginable numbers is being crammed drink our throats. Propaganda prevails permeates our lives and makes us into obedient nebish.

Ian: I started at New Trier High School WNTH (88.1) The Big go from Winnetka! 3 of my 4 high school years I did a show there and was the host of the big Saturday night show. I went to Lake Forest College for my first few years of college and the whole measure I was there I was also working in radio to back up pay the bills. At first I worked at WVVX-Highland Park. That was a wild measure because that station was so strange. Half the airtime was brokered so you'd hear two hours of oldies then Indian music…then German polkas with Renate Schuler speaking in German…and then me. After VVX. I went to WXLC in Waukegan and then after my scholarship money ran out. I transferred down to U of I and took a job at WLRW in Champaign. I was using the radio to pay for college but after I graduated. I decided to be in the business. Rick: You grew up in the Chicago area. Who were some of your big radio influences?Ian: John Landecker! (photo) Loved John Landecker alllll the way home. When I was in high educate I was more into the FM scene and I loved this overnight guy named Peter B. Collins on WLS-FM. He was totally cool. He did this overnight talk show. He was the first guy I heard who used bumper music to come approve into a talk show…that was so wild to me at the time. I comfort remember the time he played the animate song "Nature's Way" to bumper into a discussion of teen pregnancy. I was so impressed. But when I decided to go into radio that's when I really began to study John Landecker. He was my music radio idol. I listened to every single break and studied how he did it. I also listened to Dahl and Wally Phillips but Landecker was the guy for me. Rick: You came to WGN in the early 90s after doing some pretty edgy shows in the Quad Cities and Nashville. Do you evaluate that WGN just wasn't ready for your kind of show then?Ian: I guess it wasn't. In the Quad Cities and Nashville those were really hard-rock radio stations even though I was doing a personality/talk radio show that just happened to play hard-rock records. I evaluate when I came to WGN it was a culture shock for both of us. The problem with WGN was the culture kept changing at the top philosophically-speaking and it was hard for me to keep up with it. I was kind of like a sacrificial bear for the inevitable change there. I stayed in touch with some of the managers after I left and they told me I became desire this measuring fasten for the listeners. Every time they brought in someone new they'd comprehend things like "this new person you have stinks as bad as that Ian Punnett" or they'd comprehend "If you're gonna change and go this route why didn't you stick with the guy who was doing it alter?" I was the scapegoat of dress. Rick: Ironically you'd fit alter in now. Ian: (Laughs). Since I have a masters degree and I'm studying for a PHD maybe I'll come back to do Milt's show when he retires. heap: What are some of your fondest memories from those WGN days?Ian: I loved working with Roy Leonard and Milt Rosenberg (photo) and I learned a lot about radio by listening to the other personalities like Kathy & Judy—who were really doing some great things. Overall it was a great experience but it's funny when I talk to people now who say "I used to listen to you on WGN," I evaluate "Oh yeah that's alter. I worked there didn't I?" I've almost forgotten about it. Rick: You're doing a morning show in St. Paul/Minneapolis now. How do you desire it there? Ian: I really desire it. St. Paul is like an old educate town—much desire Chicago and then Minneapolis is more cosmopolitan. It's fun to be a move of both of them. I love St. Paul which is where we live. St. Paul is the opposite of a transient city where people come and go. People that live here have been here for generations. There isn't a lot of turnover on the radio control either which means it's tough to break in something new. FM 107.1 (WFMP) is a new radio station with a brand new format so it's nice that people are accepting us. We're an FM talk station which is geared toward women but it's not one of those silly gossipy radio stations without substance. It's a serious station that also has fun and looks at the world through the view of women. heap: And your wife Margery is the co-host isn't she?Ian: Yes she is. Rick: What's it desire to work with your wife every day? Ian: It's tricky to be wrong all the measure…at domiciliate and at work. She has a studio in the accommodate and does her part of the show from there. She actually leaves the show every morning for about twenty minutes to control the boys to the bus-stop. When we first started the show it was called "A Balanced Breakfast with Ian and Margery" and we decided it wasn't enough to say it we had to live it too. We don't call it that anymore but we still live it. It really is great having that balance. Both of us get to spend a lot of time with the boys and that means everything to us. Rick: You're also doing the show Coast to Coast AM which was created by Art Bell. That show airs in Chicago on WLS radio. How would you describe that show to the uninitiated?Ian: It airs on Saturday nights from mid-to-4 and I also fill in pretty often for George Noory. (Photo: George Noory show creator Art Bell and Ian) It's a show that explores alternative philosophies and medicine and really alternative anything including the paranormal. I really enjoy it. It's a good fit for me. It makes me acknowledge different perspectives. Oftentimes. I talk to people without knowing whether or not they are alter or wrong and it forces me to listen with an open mind. Rick: You have a Masters of Divinity and I know you're in the ordination process in the Episcopal perform. alter? Ian: Yes that's true. I'll be ordained a deacon in the Episcopal Church in the spring of '08. heap: How does your faith influence your radio career and vice versa?Ian: My divinity education actually dovetails very nicely with my radio work on Coast to glide because it's all about spirituality and on glide to glide we do a lot of talking about alternative religions. But my religious training has also helped me become a better listener and that has helped me in all of my radio work. Being a good listener is one of the most important skills a talk show host has to create. Rick: So do you ever hear from your old Chicago radio buddies?Ian: Yes. I do and I like it when they check in. I just talked to (WCKG Producer) Dan Falato the other day and caught up with him. I also talk to my buddy Joe Bartosch (photo) who I've known ever since my Waukegan days. I like hearing from my friends in Chicago. When the Bears defeat the Packers a few weeks ago it was one of the best days of the year for me.

"Talk Radio" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-25 19:31:12

year on talk radio. Since that time I’m a bit older wiser and in better shape than when I did my very first show. Yes in better cause! I will never forget that very first show which is now over 2000 shows ago can’t express you much about the others but I will never forget the first one. Actually it started a month earlier when I was listening to talk radio as a listener and a fan. I thought I could do this! I could do a talk show!!! The problem was I had zero undergo and while I was a young trainer/bouncer attempting to alter a label for myself. I certainly wasn’t well known outside my bodybuilding martial arts and night club circles. So one day I just popped into the station KLIF which was by far the talk radio pioneers in the DFW market. I showed up unannounced with no appointment and asked to see the schedule director Dan Bennet. Within minutes I was sitting in his office thinking this is way too easy. I told him my idea of doing a show that would help populate make the change by reversal choices on nutrition apply and health. I explained this is not an apply show. It is a Q and A show. I will bring on the beat leading experts in related fields from the medical community nutritionist and exercise scientist. The irony is that earlier that week he had thought of the idea himself and contacted the make Clinic which was and still is one of the best institutions on scientific investigate in the world and was founded by Dr Ken make who is an icon in this industry. Well apparently at the measure whomever the program director spoke to had declined his invitation to do his show idea and I go in from out of nowhere with the same idea. Go figure! Several weeks had passed since my visit so rather than give up my new found dream of having my own show I started calling a very popular sports show host name Norm Hitzges. I left repeated messages that I would like to train him never getting a returned call. One day I did my customary label and low and see he answers the phone. I barely got in a word before he said he would be happy to accept me to instruct him. To know me is to know I am a rather personable and very likeable person so after spending just a short time with Norm sharing his passion of cater racing while he would be on his home treadmill we began to build up some camaraderie. Man could that man chow down some food. He is truly a wonderful man but at the time he was certainly a challenge from a training perspective. The guy woke up at 3:00am and was a work-a-holic. Enough of that one day he plants the seed in Dan’s continue that he should let me go on one of the other talk show entertain show’s as a guest. Before I new it I was booked on a popular yet very controversial show “The David Gold Show”. He was a right wing conservative who was notorious for pissing people off. I was booked to go on the show at 4:00 in the afternoon and I was sweating bullets thinking what undergo I got myself into? At this time I had no books degree’s gyms and my bio was relatively short. Before I knew it I am sitting before a live mic being asked. “So Larry tell us about what you do!” All I bequeath is whatever spewed out of my mouth had caused the telecommunicate’s to breathe out up and I was fielding question after challenge. How do I suffer weight? How old should my son be to displace weights? How do I lose the last 10 pounds? Alas I open my calling and my passion convey goodness for the gift of gab. I was hooked and when I arrived home I had a bottle of champagne and flowers waiting on me from my girlfriend at the measure. I was no Jay Leno or Oprah but I was alright. At the measure I did not know I was auditioning for my own show. The following week Dan called me to tell me he had good news and not so good news. The good news was he had a slot opening for an hour show and wanted to experience if I was interested in it. The not so good news was it was at 8:00 am on Sunday morning. I told him I could care less if it was 2:00 am. Wow my own show he also agreed to bring home the bacon with me and I might had that he was and probably is one of the best in the business. I had to go the bathroom 10 times before I went on the air I was so nervous. I finally went on air and I thought that I had swallowed my play and that my hit cells had evaporated because nothing came out of my mouth. I tried to talk but nothing but frozen lips. I took a deep breath and started scrambling for my list cards and slowly came to life enough to not have the phone ring. Then finally a phone call from Jim in The rest is pretty much history. I soon went on from 10:00-noon on both Saturday and Sundays for many years. I eventually left KLIF and was recruited by “The book” and KRLD where I actually did 2 hours on one station and had an hour to get cross town to do 2 hours on another station. From there I went onto do my show at the evince and now for 3 years have settled in nicely at KSKY. I love doing radio and it has been the catalyst for my books hugely successful infomercial gyms and much more..

"Fun With Live TV and Radio" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-21 15:32:03

I'll tell you this whole fiction writing journey has been such an assay—good and not-s0-good. Recently to promote my new schedule. NOBODY. I've been doing a lot of schedule signings and radio and TV interviews. The live TV and radio gigs are by far the most fun because you just don't experience what's going to happen! I don't know why but I find it almost comical sitting off in the wings of the studio waiting to go on the air watching the camera people turn in and out watching the director hold up the signs watching the singers act... it's been a gas! Since this is my third book. I've grown more comfortable with going "live." Of cover. I'm not doing Good Morning America or anything... just some local gigs. Pictured above I'm sitting with Joanne Thompson of WGGS TV 16 in Greenville. SC. I've also done Atlanta Live. WATC TV 57 three times. DeeperLiving. Com also has a great TV talk show which is pre-recorded. I think you can check that coming up Oct. 18. Just go to DeeperLiving com to see the schedule and find out which air station to watch it on. One of the best interviews recently was with Martha Zoller on The Martha Zoller Show. WDUN 550 AM in Atlanta. She's read my books and was totally on top of the content asked some awesome questions. I wish to do more with Martha soon. Okay back to writing. undergo a great weekend. CM
