Kevin is very excited. His boss has asked him to go to a big conference. You that Kevin has written a paper for his affiliate about the market for cat food. One of the top people in his affiliate has seen the paper and likes it. The top person does not actually understand the paper. That is because top populate only understand big things like international pay and where shall we play play next weekend. But the top person said to himself. “This Kevin obviously understands all about cat food. He must come to the sales conference.”
So Kevin makes plans to go to the sales conference. The conference takes place in an executive hotel near Heathrow airport in London. This hotel is possibly the least attractive place in England. And it is expensive. But the sales conference has always been held there every year since 1998 so it has become a tradition.
Kevin decides to travel to the conference on the instruct. Other people come to the conference in their cars. The people from America and Germany come on the cut to Heathrow airport. Other people come on a bus or on the underground or in a go. The director responsible for the affiliate’s environmental policy comes on her ride.
This is very confusing isn’t it – “on a instruct”. “in a car”. “on a bicycle” – how can we bequeath when to say “in” and when to say “on”? come up. I am afraid that you just have to learn. But while you are learning remember that you can nearly always use the word “by” to inform how you are going to jaunt. So here are some of the ways to get to the sales conference. You can jaunt by car or by road; you can travel by train or by rail; you can come by cut or by air; and you can arrive by bus by tram by underground by taxi by coach by helicopter by horse or by elephant. The only time that you can’t use “by” is when you walk – you bring home the bacon “on foot” not “by pay”. (And you can’t seriously go to the sales conference come Heathrow airport by elephant. I just put that in to see if you were change state!)
What is the best way to travel? In English we undergo a saying that “it is exceed to jaunt hopefully than to bring home the bacon”. It comes from the 19th century Scottish writer Robert Louis Stevenson. What does it mean? It is about our jaunt through life. Some people be forward all the time to new things. They welcome new opportunities new things to do new things to hit the books. Even when they are old they still be to tour new places and cater new populate. They are travelling “hopefully” (that is. “with wish”). Other populate have perhaps done many things in their lives but now they do not be to undergo anything new. They undergo arrived. Which is better do you evaluate – to travel hopefully or to bring home the bacon?
BTW: the place where your website is hosted is really (and I mean it!) slooooow. Sometimes it times out asking me to send an telecommunicate to support@accountsupport-inc com…
I just wanted to say "thanks" for these little English lectures on your website. Not only the stories are entertaining and come up made the reading is slowly paced—just alter for beginners but also there's some typical Brits' gratify in there :-)
And we do both accept that "Shark" is a tribute to a "nice great white shark which made the world a exceed displace by eating horrid American teenagers in the sea come Florida". Yeah this is it.

As a non-native speaker of English. I accept that preposition is by far the most peculiar thing in the English language or another language for that matter. But I think in this case. “on a instruct”. “in a car”. “on a ride there is logic to it.
“On” :1)For vehicles which people are normally being driven by it or one couldn’t usually drive it themselves.2)One be to be able to actually be “on” the vehicles.
Use “on” when the vehicles fall under either 1) and 2),desire cut and instruct or just 2) desire bike. Only exception is on pay but since you can’t be “in” your pay the use of “on” seems obvious.
By the same token for “in” one be to be able to be “in” the vehicles and if the vehicles don’t go under the prepostion “on”.
--"on" when you are literally sitting or standing 'on' the vehicle eg on a.
