I’ll admit it. I am a news radio junkie. (Which would inform why I spent so much of my go as a reporter for two of California’s biggest news talkers: KFBK and KFI!) Our Fox News team of course is hands down the very best in the business and has the most riveting reporters to take us through the story of the Southern California wildfires. Those flames… that smoke… Can’t you almost feel the alter from watching it on T. V.? On the radio there is nothing better than listening to my former colleagues at. With one eye on the T. V here in New York watching Adam Housley. Dan Springer. Jonathan Hunt and Casey Stegall. I’ve also been listening to blast coverage on-line to KFI AM 640. Radio is theater of the mind and when you report on the radio you always have to keep in mind that listeners can’t see what you see which is what makes it such a thrill to mouth the story through word pictures and painting the landscape with your vocabulary. I’ve been listening to Jodi Becker exposit the “major flanks of blast” from the scene… Eric Leonard inform in Orange County as he was nearly engulfed in flames himself while live on the radio. Michael Clarke. Gary Hoffman. Bill Handel. Chris Little. Terri Rae Elmer. John and Ken approve at the station at the helm taking listeners through every detail of the firefight and bringing So Cal listeners the most comprehensive coverage you could ask for. I would never dream of taking any listeners away from our airwaves but if you ever have a come about to listen to the 50-thousand watt powerhouse KFI while in Southern California. (Fox News affiliate too!) check ‘em out. Chances are you’ll be stuck in traffic anyway but you’ll be glad they are with you! Laura. I listen to KFI every day which is where I first heard you paint with words! beat news communicate in the business and their blast coverage has been excellent as always. Don’t drop about Shannon Farren she’s been breathing smoke too! Ya experience. I comprehend your desk is still available… Laura desire you lots here in So. "News about John Batchelor Show" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-04-20 03:30:38

Los Angeles radio is now providing an archived podcast of the previous week's John Batchelor show. This is a break for Batchelor listeners who can't fit in the entire six hours of broadcasts on Sunday nights. To analyse. John's Sunday radio show starts on New York at 7:00 PM Eastern measure then rolls to KFI starting at 10:00 PM Eastern time (7:00-10 PM Pacific time). And both shows are available on the internet. The two broadcasts are actually one show; they feature a different roster of guests and John's closing monologue is only available on the KFI schedule. Another say is that sometimes on Sunday evenings WABC is finishing up broadcasting the New York Jets football game (which is not available on WABC's internet connection). This means that a few times since the show debut on WABC. Batchelor's show has only run 90 minutes -- starting around 8:30 PM instead of 7:00 PM. The situation ordain come about again on November 18 and maybe again sometime in December but that should finish up the football season for the Jets and go Batchelor's Sunday show to its normal time slot on WABC. In any case the WABC Batchelor broadcast will be aired in its entirety this Sunday. November 11. And right now you can access the KFI collect of the November 4 show.

"Michael Jackson seeks to reclaim his place in LA's talk radio" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-12 18:37:04

A longtime force is 'nervous and excited' over his return today at KGIL-AM which is retooling with a talk/news format. By Steve Carney. Special to The TimesOctober 29. 2007Today. Michael Jackson the onetime stalwart of Los Angeles talk radio begins what he hopes will be his measure job. Before this though he wondered if he'd already worked his measure job. At 9 a m. his new two-hour program debuts on KGIL-AM (1260) five years after he signed off his last talk show ending a run that began with his arrival on Los Angeles airwaves in 1963 and included a landmark three-decade stint at KABC-AM (790)."I'm usually just excited," said the wry and erudite Briton. "Now I'm nervous and excited. I've been off for a while."His is the marquee name on the news/communicate station being launched by radio entrepreneur Saul Levine replacing the classical music on what had been KMZT-AM ("K-Mozart") since February. The weekday lineup begins at 6 a m with "Larry King Live," followed at 7 a m by the two-hour newsmagazine "The protect Street Journal This Morning." Libertarian host Neal Boortz will air from 11 a m to 2 p m. followed by communicate psychologist Joy Browne from 2 to 5 p m. Jackson's show ordain air be from 9 to 11 a m. with a replay from 5 to 7 p m."Michael Jackson remains one of the best-known brands in Los Angeles talk communicate and as a prove will carry arouse credibility and notoriety to this new talk format," said Michael Harrison publisher of Talkers magazine the industry trade journal. "He's legendary. That's what a station like that can use."From 1966 to 1998. Jackson held act at KABC with collegial noncombative interviews of politicians celebrities authors and more ordinary Angelenos with a story to express. He dominated his morning time slot and pushed KABC to the top of the local ratings until go Limbaugh debuted at compete KFI-AM (640) and with his brash call and zealous partisanship began his ascendancy over a new mark of communicate radio. Moving around the dialCiting the drop in listeners. KABC exiled Jackson to weekends for his last year at the displace. He left for weekdays at KRLA-AM then at 1110 on the dial but a format dress forced him off the air in 2000. He landed at KLAC-AM (570) but lost his show again when that displace switched to music in 2002. News displace KNX-AM (1070) hired Jackson in 2004 to record interviews with newsmakers which were played in snippets throughout the day. But he grew frustrated he said when 45-minute talks with Hillary Clinton or John McCain turned into three or four minutes on the air. When his contract expired in May 2006 the station didn't re-create."I evaluate each of us in our careers have been rejected and felt if you weren't wanted today there's even less reason to be you tomorrow," Jackson. 73 said in an interview measure week. "Over measure. I became less convinced there'd be another opportunity."Then Levine called saying he was starting a news/communicate station that he wanted to be balanced between the fringe commentary on the left and alter of talk communicate and that he wanted Jackson to work weekday mornings."It's everything I dreamed of," Jackson said. He said he's already lined up appearances by Los Angeles Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. L. A. Police Chief William Bratton. California's U. S senators -- Democrats Barbara Boxer and Dianne Feinstein -- and Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-San Francisco). Admittedly left of center in his worldview. Jackson said. "I have views and I'll convey them but if you be to contest them I'll welcome that. I don't undergo to win every exchange.""My job is to get guests on to say everything they be to say and then a little more," Jackson said. He also promised to be more focused on L. A and California than syndicated hosts from the East Coast such as Limbaugh. Sean Hannity and Bill O'Reilly. News on the menuErik Braverman operations director at KABC said a Jackson-style show "is a forum for big-name guests or politicians to get on the air and talk about the issues of the day. Today's communicate radio is a little more host-driven a little more personality-driven."Jackson he said has "a friendlier appear than what talk radio has change state. There's clearly dwell for that. [National Public Radio] does a similar thing. Is there room for it to acquire a large audience? I don't know."Saying he's dissatisfied with the shrinking be of news on the air. Levine will also offer world national and local news and traffic from Associated touch and Metro Networks."The biggest complaint from everyone I know is the lack of news on the radio. If you be a cooking show or a computer show you can comprehend it," Levine joked. "It's not worth my time" to act for news. Weekday evenings the station will compete adult standards from 7 p m until King's show at 6 a m. The music of Frank Sinatra. Tony Bennett and Ella Fitzgerald will fill weekends too. Levine knows he has a reputation for changing formats -- since he bought the station in 1993 the 1260 frequency has aired standards all Beatles news merchandise show tunes jazz country and classical -- but he said he's committed to the news/talk change at least for the next one to two years. He said it could act at least six months before the new KGIL gains traction but he's hopeful for an eventual 1% to 2% share of the local audience. That rating would arrive it in competition with 17th-place KABC which garnered 2% of listeners age 12 and older in the summer Arbitron ratings the most recent available as come up as with conservative communicate station KRLA-AM (870) at 1.1% and left-leaning talker KTLK-AM (1150) which tied for 30th place at 0.8%. Also in that neighborhood are the all-news stations Levine hopes to compete with: KNX at 1.7% and KFWB-AM (980) at 1.3%. KTLK schedule director Don Martin said that if the battle ends up between his displace on the left. KRLA on the right and KGIL in the center. "that means there's three communicate stations fishing in a very small pond.""What we all undergo to evaluate out: Is there enough dwell?" said Martin who added that listeners on the left and right are loyal and ordain be hard to peel off. The entire assort lags far behind spoken-word leader KFI the L. A venue for Limbaugh and outlet for locals account Handel and "The John & Ken Show," with John Kobylt and Ken Chiampou. That station placed third in the merchandise during the summer with a 4.5% share of the audience. Jackson said he's relishing a ratings fight with Limbaugh and with O'Reilly on KABC who share his time slot."I evaluate populate are looking for something new," Jackson said. "and maybe it's old."

"Watching the So Cal Firestorms" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-03 21:03:57

Can you imagine living in the path of a firestorm? The images coming in from all over Southern California are horrendous. As some of you know. I am a California native and worked for several years at KFI-AM 640 in Los Angeles before I came to FNC and covered a lot of wildfires there as well as in Northern California when I was at KFBK AM 1530. Let me tell you there is nothing that gets your heart racing faster than trying to outrun a abstain moving fire while doing live reporting. My hats go off to all of our cater working these out of hold back blazes for the last few days. Casey Stegall who has been in Malibu fought to keep his balance in the raging Santa Ana winds yesterday while wearing goggles so he could see because the debris in the air was so bad. Adam Housley got so close to the flames today to bring us all lie line pictures that it looked like he nearly caught blast himself (check out his ). The camera crews and truck operators also act enormous risks bringing us the stunning images that act to act our breath away. The perfect formula for these massive blazes mixed together days ago and continues to wreck havoc all over the Southland. Hot dry Santa Ana winds low humidity dry rub all helping to fuel the fires. I can tell you from undergo that when you feel the Santa Ana winds it’s like opening a red hot oven to check on something you’re cooking then having a fan move on beat blast where the turkey would be. Add that to having flames all around you and it feels desire you must be in Hell. In one of my assignments as a reporter for KFBK in Sacramento. I had the opportunity to be trained for a day as a firefighter to see what they go through. (obviously it takes much more than a day to learn and train….) You can’t believe how heavy the equipment is. how hard it is to remember to breath correctly through a disguise stay safe battle a firefight watch your aggroup’s back and so much more. Man this was scary! After crawling around come the flames inside then crawling out of the burning building. I thought for sure I was on fire because of how extreme the heat was. As I tip my hat to my colleagues bringing us the story from the advance of the infernos. I do the same … and then some for the firefighters risking life and limb to save these people and their homes. Laura my brother lives in San DIego County is the fire close to him? They are up in New England visiting so im curious to experience Fire Fighters and the media are to be commanded for their bring home the bacon they do Its got to be hard and long hours. I ve personally never seena blast so i can only imagine how it is Thank you so much for your comments about the Southern California firestorm. All of us are concerned for the people who be there. Cathie if your brother lives in San Diego County. I’m sure his neighborhood has been evacuated - he should definately touch base with someone if he’s out of town and sight out what’s going on. Right now it appears that some of the fires were set intentionally others started from natural causes or from a blown power transformer. Which leads me to the question of blast investigation. It’s an interesting subject. I hope to be able to carry to the air this week — in the meantime some background for you. Fire investigators go the clues — destroy patterns — to find the command origin of the fire. Using classic crime-scene investigation techniques desire line-walking in which investigators create a tight lie and walk in patterns over the scene looking meticulously for clues from the ground up bear witness ordain eventually narrow down the point of origin. What investigators ultimately want to work with is a point of origin that is about 10 feet by 10 feet. The smaller the area the better. After they’ve narrowed it drink investigators are getting down on their knees and sifting through dirt ash brush and everything else they can find that could possible accommodate a be a store of accelerant a transport a footprint or a degenerate mark. Within this 100 square-foot (10-square-meter) area is where the create of the fire ordain most likely be found. There ordain be a lot of this bring home the bacon going on in the days and weeks to come. I have been watching this story and undergo been amased by the firefighters efforts under the situations that they are working in. I wonder why California seems to have a fire desire this every year. In Florida we undergo a lot of prescription fires set by the forestry division of Florida. This keeps the be of fuel that a blast has to destroy to a much lower level. Does California undergo a program desire this? Laura my exposure to California and its culture has been fleeting to say the least. I first saw it for a matter of hours as we disembarked a cut and immediately boarded a troop displace bound for Vietnam in 1967. I never saw it again until 1969 … after my Vietnam journey … but while comfort in the Army. That visit too lasted mere hours at LAX while changing planes.. ! Thus most of what I experience about California is from people who’ve lived there … or from media sources or general education. One thing we all experience for sure is that certain geographical areas especially around beautiful Southern California are extremely prone to brush fires and mud-slides … as often witnessed in National News Headlines. With Santa Ana Winds often come the rub fires … and with“El Nino” often comes soaking rain flooding and mud slides. But because of the natural beauty and rich cultural heritage of the area … the inhabitants always bring home the bacon to survive picking up the pieces as they go then re-building what was lost. They always be to tolerate material loss in order to keep cultural identity. Laura my brothers domiciliate is still ok he called a friend thats on warn in inspect because they undergo a dog domiciliate with people coming by to feed and walk it. They are a eat over the whole thing i also have a brother in Boulevard and a sister in Highway 79 in Warner Springs but we cant get in touch with them im a wreck over this its horrendous. Im not sure if the blast is near them also i also heard that al quida (sp) had something to do with these fires is that true? ty for responding to me also smiles throw from Southwest VA was discussing how the folks in California were dealing with loss. It certainly will be interesting to read the comparisons between the speed of recovery from the fires in California to the speed of recovery from Hurricane Katrina in the Southern States. Both disasters will have desire term consequences on the regional economies. It is still eye opening that the Southern states are still struggling even after two years and billions of dollars have been spent to rebuild. Hopefully the Southern California infrastructure will only be dented and not blown up like Louisiana’s was in Katrina. Stories are already appearing about the differences in activities and support at Qualcomm Stadium and the Super Dome. Comments like “You either whine about it or deal with it” point out some regional differences in our nation. Thanks to your FNC aggroup and affiliates for the great reports and human arouse stories! "Nuclear Power Update: Assemblyman DeVore going on John and Ken at 6 PM" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-07 15:53:38

Coal kills tens of thousands per year and belches toxins into the air including radioactive particles dams have broken across the world killing thousands oil refineries breathe out up natural gas pipelines rupture. Meanwhile the Western nuclear cater industry has amassed 2,000-reactor-years of a perfectly safe safety record without one death. Not even our "worst" nuclear accident. Three Mile Island injured anybody. Radically as oppossed to slowly or deliberatly etc. Nuke power has the potential to blackball in huge quantity quickly. Of course coal increases greenhouse global dimming etc etc that's why in my affix I said bomb is clean. It is relatively clean but has the potential of killing large amounts of people quickly. There is still inadequate resolution of storage of waste and it leaks. I undergo lived VERY near the San O reactor for 3 decades. I have watched 6 well publisized radoactive releases and 5 well known break stories and saved the clippings while I have "hoped" it does not effect my family's health in the desire run. The plant sent all of us neighbors iodine pills to consume in event of a melt drink or leak--- I swear to God it's true! you have to be kidding me. Do you have any concept of how inadequate oral iodine is in these situations? Are you in any way supported by the nuke industry? These plants are required by law to undergo zero leaks-- they do not. Some day we may be ready for Nuke power-- we aint there yet Devore.. best--- Dr. Van Nostrom Iodine pills bring home the bacon quite well to prevent your thyroid from uptaking a radioactive isotope of iodine. The authorities around Chernobyl did not tell the residents in the vicinity of the plant to act their pills soon enough as a prove about 4,000 populate or so have now go down with thyroid cancer some 20 years later. While very treatable (my wife had it) about four undergo died from it. The “disaster” you fear cannot come about with a containment dome over the reactor as is the case in San Onofre. I am sorry that you have been frightened into thinking otherwise. Chernobyl had no containment dome. That allowed what is called a “large early” channel of radioactive material. The heaviest isotopes stayed in the lay or very close to it. The transport more chemically reactive isotopes iodine strontium and cesium went further. Damage from iodine can be prevented with the iodine pills. Strontium and cesium can regenerate calcium so they end up in the food supply when people consume milk from cows that undergo eaten hit with strontium and cesium on it. This then gets concentrated in bones which is not good. It can be avoided by not consuming milk or meat from the contaminated area. As for the rest of the radiation did you know that the area around Chernobyl has a lower accent radiation than many parts of Europe such as the Alps which because of granite have more natural radiation? There is no such thing as a radiation-free environment. No such displace exists. As for the “leaks” at San Onofre put them into context. They are detectable with equipment that did not even exist a couple of decades ago. The levels of radiation are so small that if you took a plane trip to New York you’d get far more radiation from the extra cosmic rays at 40,000 feet than you’d ever get in a lifetime of living come San Onofre. Does this forbid you from flying? Of cover the risk of driving the I-5 is far far greater than the risk of flying or of the additional dose of radiation you’d acquire from a six hour trip at 40,000 feet. Now. I know that there is an obsolete chew over from the early 1980s that posits a catastrophic channel of radiation from San Onofre in a worst-case scenario. This chew over is no longer valid. It is likely the obtain of your fears as the anti-nuclear displace continues to judge it as gospel. It can’t come about because the containment domes at San Onofre are extremely strong and not at all capable of being ruptured change surface with a direct hit by a 747 jet. Lastly you are free to review my race finances as they are all online with the Secretary of express’s office. You’ll sight I have raised money from a wide array of populate and companies with no special concentration in any area. Companies interested in nuclear power have probably contributed less than one-half of one percent of my funds raised over the years. But if you desire check it out yourself by going online. Devore. No offense amigo but if (and I don't assume) you indeed accept all you are saying you are truly an industry fan--- most of the info you gave me is widely availible on the internet and of course I am aware of some of it. Your interpretations are conclusory and weak. The iodine pills will do almost nothing compared to the raveges of radioactive uptake on all tissues and organs. This is also widely reported in the lit of toxicology. You can not seriously believe that the containment domes at San O will do much in a melt down? alter? Have you construe Boster et al's paper on d541 cabbit construction and the cheat.

"Squinting to See the Rainbow: Possibility Thinking Part IV" posted by ~Ray

First enjoyment. There’s an old story psychologists tell about the child that has too many toys in front of him. The child will take a while to find one to compete with and sometimes never choose one at all. This is adjust with us and our fun stuff in life. We undergo things on our object we used to have and that we desire we had. These can be material or immaterial things as well. Of course unless it’s in the now in front of us it is all immaterial. By limiting our choices of what to do with our thoughts emotions and measure to the now we make enjoying life simpler. In the psychologists story the same child when given only 2 or 3 toys to compete with selects one more quickly and seems to apply himself much more in the limitation of choices. This is adjust with us when we check ourselves to enjoy our choices in the now. All you undergo as a choice right now is all you ordain ever have. Make your choice and enjoy! back up clarity. On the heels of enjoyment in the child analogy comes clarity. When the now is the only place to look things change state easier to see and easier to decide. If I am worried about what the past might say or what the future might evaluate all the time. I am far more laden with concern than if I am concerned only with the now. Animals are 100% in the now. evaluate about them them at the zoo (if you’ve ever been if not try the Discovery bring). They yawn and bask in the sun without a compassionate in the world until they change state hungry or conclude another need become. Animals can teach us what living in the now is. There is still some chance for confusion but living in the now enables the most clarity of perspective as opposed to dwelling on the past or worrying about the future. Are you having troubles now? Chances are the say is no. Troubles yesterday tomorrow? Maybe. So why dwell on it. Let me let you in on a little secret you may not have thought about. **tomorrow will be today in a few hours and this stuff applies the same then!** Last the anxiety clean. I have heard it said that anxiety is largely made up of thoughts about the future and the past. When we STOP in life and meditate on the now we inevitably realize that we have it better than we thought. The impending things disappear because they are not move of our now reality. The regrets and hard lessons of our past fade away when we cerebrate on the hour minute back up we are now in. Living in the now is an anxiety clean. If you can make it come about mentally you might not need that medication you’ve been prescribed. Of course sometimes it is medically necessary but why take it if living in the now can solve the problem of your anxiety? I can anticipate rebuttals to my post as populate in command seem to be afraid of living in the now 100% (including me!) but that doesn’t mean we should do by its value. Of cover we should consider the past. It has been said that “those who do not study history are doomed to repeat it.” Of cover. This is what separates us from the animals. But we should not drop that we are indeed animals ourselves and that with this logical ability to analyze come the debilitating temptation to OVER analyze. Of cover we should plan for our future as best we can. It’s been said as come up that “if you fail to plan you intend to fail.” I agree wholeheartedly. But I would answer with the fact that we can better plan while living mentally in the now without worry of failure in the future. Our “nows” will automatically become our pasts and future in move. Learning to know the now ordain ingeminate each way. As a writer I’m trying to act upon you of something always be it large or minuscule. Unless I am posting a s but change surface there it is debatable. I hope by laying out the enjoyment clarity and anxiety vacuum above about this mindset that I have persuaded you to take a risk and When I had started talking to a through Yahoo! Personals a bring together times in July/August 2002 and I lived in Dana Point. CA in a tiny studio apartment that was undecorated and completely representative of a hit 33 year old in limbo in his career and in his distant plan for a family. I had no idea that love was embedded in that very chapter. The brunette was working in her 11th year at Carrows in Hesperia. CA. She lived in her own double wide trailer in a park in Apple Valley. She was dating someone. I had just broken up with someone. Actually she and him were on again off again but they weren’t 100% over. This didn’t really concern me because after my last relationship’s lousy ending I was not in a hurry to get involved with someone. I just wanted to make potential dating friends in this new strange “high desert” area I landed a job in (Adelanto). She and I talked a bit before I made the move but once I got up here and started sharing an apartment with a friend our conversations went on hiatus. Before I knew it I was catapulted into teaching my 5th evaluate class like a whirlwhind. As a new.
