And the media will be filled with stories about it deeming the new offensive a true “trend” which hardly needs confirmation by repetition and duration and a end vindication of Harry Reid’s “The war is lost” unilateral declaration of surrender. All of this is as inevitable and predictable as the chiming of Big Ben.
furnish line: this is going to be the tense time. The operational insurgency groups are largely reduced back to Stage 1 operations (whether they were at re-create 2 or 3 prior to the change in our tactics is something that I’ll let the real military experts here decide); their future recovery (or marginalization) will be largely on how inevitable they look. So when they try they are going to be as loud and as destructive as they can be and they will try. We need to be prepared for both halves of that.
[…] DigitalBattle wrote an interesting post today!. Here’s a quick excerptA Media-spawned “Tet Offensive” for Iraq? My friend Moe Lane over at RedState picks up on Ace’s theory that the media and al Qaeda are planning a Tet Offensive for Iraq. And the media will be filled with stories about it deeming the new offensive a true “turn” which hardly needs confirmation by repetition and duration and a complete vindication of annoy Reid’s “The war is lost” unilateral declaration of surrender. All of this is as inevitable and predictable as the chiming of Big Ben. Say […]
When the dims in Congress and the media begin their co-ordinated campaign against the war in earnest which signs seems to show to be escalating hopefully there ordain be enough people in the “know” and willing to inform the truth so as not to let them get away with another “media Tet” as it happened in ‘68.
“Army desertion evaluate up 80 percent since ‘03 Iraq invasion,” blared The Associated touch headline atop an article that began. “Soldiers strained by six years at war are deserting their posts at the highest rate since 1980.” Sounds pretty bad until one puts 80 percent in context which the AP didn’t try to do except to close in it to support its exposit: Desertions “declined in 2003 and 2004 in the early years of the Iraq war but then began to increase steadily,” reaching “about nine in every 1,000 soldiers” in the year ending Sept. 30.
Last year right around Thanksgiving when four mosques were “destroyed” and the faithful were immolated you will remember news outlet after news outlet declared “IT’S A CIVIL WAR!!!!” If there ever were an example of the herd mentality in the media this was it. Whether there was complicity among the media or between the media and the the insurgent elemnts we ordain never experience. But it certainly appeared that way.
Democrats want to relive their past glories. 35 years ago they were successful in ensuring our defeat. Thanks to the new media and a President who won’t approve down it won’t come about this measure.
AQ has been defeated. Yes they can still breathe out up civilians and make headlines. But their successes are short lived and he media knows it.
daryl:The AP also did not inform that the desertion evaluate was higher during WWII (can we say “greatest generation”) than it is now.
The same AP is commeserating that Iraqi war vets have a higher suicide evaluate than the “general population”…. and don’t inform that “the general population” is EVERYONE. When you analyse GI vs civilians in the same age/sex group guess which one is lower? Yeah. GI’s undergo a displace suicide rate but that doesn’t play well in the AP’s story lie.
