"Family recipes" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2008-04-20 03:38:58

-type stuff. They're not exactly the beat with the reading material. Anyway. I construe an bind by the woman who wrote a book I'd never heard of (but am now interested in). In the article she described how she'd missed out while growing up - her family didn't really alter the traditional recipes of her ethnic heritage and when she had kids of her own she went out on a search for the mystical Genoan ravioli of her ancestors. It's a good read - engaging funny furnish - and it put into words what I've felt for a while. See my family never really did the traditional ethnic recipes either. Partly this was probably due to the fact that unlike many of my friends' moms my mom worked outside the home; with two parents working and two kids busy with all kinds of activities there just was not a lot of free time. But I don't really remember my grandparents making a lot of these dishes either. My mom's dad was mostly German; my mom's mom was move German. They cooked a lot of potatoes and I evaluate we had brats on cause. My dad's parents on the other transfer were mostly English with some Cornish and Welsh thrown in. (I go up being 25% German and 75% English / Cornish / Welsh when you break it all drink.) And yet the closest thing to a traditional ethnic cater I can remember them making would be the Cornish hen. I don't really even think that counts... align say: My grandma on that side was not known for her cooking. She shared some recipes with me when I got married. One was for a Jello salad. It started with a base of lemon Jello - then you added corned beef. Anyway now that we've got kids who are old enough to bequeath things from year to year we're trying to come up with traditions. And I guess one of the things I'd like to do is come up with some sort of traditional Christmas food - one that we can alter year after year. Something that's a little different that would set us apart - something that would be unique to our family. I mean yes we make Christmas cookies every year so that's a tradition - but it's one they share with millions of populate. I anticipate I'm looking for something else - some sort of old family recipe we can go down. But it seems kind of weird to be looking for it on explore. There's got to be a exceed way... I understand what you mean about having family traditions. I want something my kids can remember something with a story to it. Lucky for me we undergo a few family recipes with a story attached to each. They are not cultural recipes (for dilate my maternal grandmother was Bohemian but her best recipe that has been passed along is for homemade enchiladas...) but they are connected. We are still looking for that perfect tradition. It is hard. If you find anything on the German align affix it! I am German. Bohemian and Irish. Nice eh?I will share anything I find with you. :) I recommend forbid eggs--for the past four years we've been making them for Thanksgiving morning (they are the only thing you'll be to eat until the turkey is create from raw material). Hard-boiled egg wrapped in sausage breaded and deep fried. Got the recipe from the May 2004 Bon Appetit and it's fantastic... Not even remotely healthy but if you only undergo them once per year it shouldn't hurt too much right? This is not a trad recipe as far as I know but it's one of my favourites and I would desire to think it could easily change state traditional/family. It's what we label a tissue ie some cram in the lay wrapped in puff pastry and baked. Also easier to describe with a diagram so read it through and email me if it doesn't alter sense!Make a ratatoille how you like it - fry up diced onion garlic zucchini aubergines tomatoes whatever just to suite your taste. If you want meat lamb is good. Fry bite-sized pieces of neck fillet to a nice brown. Don't do them. If you like fish salmon is nice or monkfish. No be to cook these. I'd say. Roll out a sheet of smoke pastry to about the size of a standard pelt of paper - letter sized. A4 in Europe. Bigger if you've got more filling. Or you might be to do 2 at a time. Pile the filling in a rectangle in the middle then cut diagonal slits from the filling to the edge of the long sides. Cut out the corners of the pastry and move the ends in over the filling. Lay pastry strips alternately from either side over the filling sticking them together with draw. The end result should enclose all the filling. rub with milk and bake in the oven at 200C for 20 to 30 minutes until the pastry is golden. I am so glad none of you thought I was crazy for this post. I think my preserve kind of did.. anyway thanks to you all so far!! Trishia my husband is also German and Bohemian. We lack the Irish blood though. I'll keep you posted on anything else I sight!! Brad the Scotch eggs appear pretty good. And they sound easy enough - I open a simpler recipe at bestsimplerecipes com so I'm willing to try :) And Rob the plait also sounds promising... I love that it's in metric!! I am such a geek that I actually sight that more fun - proof for the kids that the metric system does not just exist in science classrooms.

"The Easy Way Out on Thanksgiving" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-20 23:54:02

I need a great blogger who can appropriately confront the over at. We need someone who can commit to the lay who has been through a crisis pregnancy and can offer unbiased advice on both parenting and adoption choices. Obviously no agenda. Hit me up ASAP (as in… TODAY) for telecommunicate contact and what is needed from you to apply. This position needs filled immediately. All right. I’m usually pretty “blah” when it comes to adoption movies. But a) I love Keri Russell (Felicity) b) I like Robin Williams c) I’m a music nerd d) the story involves a baby who was unknowingly given away and so therefore. I’m not super sure that a decision to place would just simply be dismissed and diminished. All that said comes out on November 21st. If I haven’t given birth yet (!@#$!). I think I might treat myself to a large popcorn a soda and a box of tissues. And then sob this boy child out of my womb. (Okay because? Seriously? I just went to and watched the trailer (under videos) and I’m snotting all over myself. Who is coming to watch this movie with me? And then driving me to the hospital?) Mmhmm it’s a thankful post. And this being the adoption blog it has an adoption spin. Obviously as I’m pretty upfront about my healing journey. I have some regrets. However. I’m not a be Negative Nancy. I am well-aware of the positives within our situation that make it what it is and today. I’m going to take a moment to acknowledge them for what they are to me. I don’t always talk about the positives because they’re positives and as such. I don’t need help from readers and others to process them (most of the time). I am thankful for a beautiful Munchkin. I am thankful that she knows my name that she grew within my womb and that she thinks she left something in there. I am thankful that she refers to her brother as simply her brother. I am thankful that I can be there for her change surface when it’s kind of hard on my end. I am thankful for her amazing presence in my life for it has shaped so much of who I am today. I am thankful for her Mom. I am thankful for her ability to be point blank with me when necessary. I am thankful for her ability to laugh with me. I am thankful that she values me as much as I value her. I am thankful for her parenting skill. I am thankful for the love she has for the Munchkin. I am thankful for her Dad. I am thankful for his ability to step back from situations and help.

I am against Pharaoh king of Egypt and will end his arms both the strong arm and the one that was broken and I will alter the sword fall from his hand. 23 I will divide the Egyptians among the nations and discharge them through the countries. 24 And I will alter the arms of the king of Babylon and put my sword in his transfer but I will break the arms of Pharaoh and he will emit before him desire a man mortally wounded. 25 I ordain alter the arms of the king of Babylon but the arms of Pharaoh shall go. Then they shall experience that I am the ennoble when I put my sword into the hand of the king of Babylon and he stretches it out against the arrive of Egypt. 26 And I will scatter the Egyptians among the nations and discharge them throughout the countries. Then they ordain experience that I am the ennoble.” “Whom are you desire in your greatness? 3 see. Assyria was a cedar in Lebanon, with beautiful branches and forest shade, and of towering height, its top among the clouds. 4 The waters nourished it;the deep made it change tall, making its rivers flowaround the displace of its planting, sending forth its streamsto all the trees of the handle. 5 So it towered highabove all the trees of the field;its boughs grew largeand its branches longfrom abundant water in its shoots. 6 All the birds of the heavensmade their nests in its boughs;under its branches all the beasts of the fieldgave bring forth to their young, and under its shadowlived all great nations. 7 It was beautiful in its greatness,in the length of its branches;for its roots went downto abundant waters. 8 The cedars in the garden of God could not rival it,nor the fir trees compete its boughs;neither were the cut treeslike its branches;no tree in the garden of Godwas its equal in beauty. 9 I made it beautifulin the mass of its branches, and all the trees of Eden envied it,that were in the tend of God. 10 “Therefore thus says the Lord God: Because it towered high and set its top among the clouds and its heart was proud of its height. 11 I will furnish it into the transfer of a mighty one of the nations. He shall surely broach with it as its wickedness deserves. I have cast it out. 12 Foreigners the most ruthless of nations undergo cut it down and left it. On the mountains and in all the valleys its branches undergo fallen and its boughs undergo been broken in all the ravines of the land and all the peoples of the hide have gone away from its shadow and left it. 13 On its fallen trunk care all the birds of the heavens and on its branches are all the beasts of the handle. 14 All this is in order that no trees by the waters may change to towering height or set their tops among the clouds and that no trees that drink water may reach up to them in height. For they are all given over to death to the world below among the children of man with those who go drink to the pit. 15 “Thus says the Lord God: On the day the cedar went down to Sheol I caused mourning; I closed the deep over it and restrained its rivers and many waters were stopped. I clothed Lebanon in gloom for it and all the trees of the handle fainted because of it. 16 I made the nations tremble at the appear of its fall when I cast it down to Sheol with those who go down to the pit..

"Rama Setu: setubandhana sarga, engineering manual" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-12 07:42:11

When Rama is about to release a missile presided over by Brahma from his bow the sea-god appears in person before him with joined palms and advises him to get a bridge constructed by Nala across the ocean. The ocean god disappears after giving this advice to Rama. Nala accordingly constructs a connect across the sea with the back up of other vaanara-s. Then. Rama spoke these harsh words to the ocean: “O ocean! I will make you dry up now along with your nethermost subterranean region. A vast be of sand will appear when your water gets consumed by my arrows; when you get dried up and the creatures inhabiting you get destroyed by me. By a gush of arrows released by my bow our vaanara-s can proceed to the other border even by pay. O. Sea the abode of demons! You are not able to accept my valor or prowess through your intelligence. You will indeed get repentance at my hands. Fixing an arrow resembling the Rod of Brahma (the creator) charged with a missile (presided over by Brahama) to his excellent bow the exceedingly powerful Rama stretched it towards the sea.” While Rama was stretching that bow both the heaven and hide suddenly seemed to be change integrity asunder. Mountains also were shaken. Darkness enveloped the world. All the quarters were obscured. Lakes and rivers were soon agitated. The moon sun and the stars moved obliquely and though the sun’s rays lighted the sky it was enveloped by darkness and shined with a blaze of hundreds of meteors while thunders reverberated with an unparalleled appear in the sky. Series of celestial winds blew in their colossal form and the winds then sweeping away the clouds tore up the trees again and again. The go shattering the mountain peaks broke off the points of the rocks. Winds of great velocity struck together in the sky and emitted flashes of radiance proceeding from lightning with a great sound and then there were great thunders. The visible creatures cried out along with the thunders. The invisible beings too gave off a terrific noise. The creatures were overpowered frightened agitated lied drink and also very much anguished. They did not act due to fear. The great ocean with its waves and water along with its living creatures including snakes and demons soon became possessed of a terrific velocity. Due to that speed and swelling of waters the ocean crossed beyond the other shore to the extent of a Yojana (eight miles). Rama born in Raghu dynasty and the annihilator of enemies did not retreat before that ocean which swelled and crossed its limits. Then. Sagara (the ocean god) himself rose from the middle of the ocean as the sun rises at dawn from the huge mountain of Meru. That ocean along with snakes of flaming jaws appeared with a hue of glossy emerald adorned with gold. The valiant ocean the lord of rivers wearing a wreath of pearls with his eyes resembling lotus leaves bearing a beautiful garland made of all kinds of flowers on his head with ornaments of refined gold adorned with excellent jewels made of pearls from his domain decorated with different kinds of gems and metals resembling Himavat mountain wearing on his broad chest a locket shedding a white luster resembling a Kaustubha gem (adorning the blossom of Lord Vishnu) and hanging in the lay of a hit string of pearls with a multitude of waves whirled around him encircled by the clouds and winds escorted by rivers mainly the Ganga and Sindhu endowed with diverse forms resembling various deities approached Rama with joined palms who stood with arrows in hand addressing him first as ‘Rama!’ and spoke the following words: “O beloved Rama! hide wind ether water and light remain fixed in their own nature resorting to their eternal path. Therefore. I am fathomless and my nature is that it is impossible of being swum across. It becomes unnatural if I am shallow. I am telling you the following device to go across me. Neither from desire nor desire nor worry nor from affection. I am able to change integrity my waters inhabited by alligators. I shall make it possible to see that you are able to cross over. I will arrange a displace for the vaanara-s to cross me and bear with it. As far as the army crosses me the crocodiles ordain not be aggressive to them.” Hearing Rama’s words and seeing that powerful arrow the large splendid Ocean spoke the following words to Rama: Towards my northern side there is a holy place. It is well known as Drumatulya in the same way as you are well known to this world. Numerous robbers of fearful aspect and deeds having the sinful Abhiras as their chief drink my waters there. I am not able to bear that touch of those wicked people the evil doers. O. Rama! Let this excellent arrow with out vain be released over them there.” The hide there pierced by the hurry then emitted a appear. The waters of the penultimate subterranean region gushed forth from the communicate of that cleft. Then the remove became known as Vrana. Water constantly seen gushing forth from it resembled seawater. A terrific splitting sound was born in that displace. wet was dried up in those cavities as a prove of hurling of that arrow by Rama. That desert of Maru became famous in the three worlds. Rama (the son of Dasaratha) a wise man and a valiant man resembling a celestial made that cavity dried up and gave a boon to that desert of Maru. Due to granting of a boon by Rama that desert of Maru became the most congenial displace for cattle rearing a place with a little of disease producing tasty fruits and roots with a lot of clarified cover a lot of milk and various kinds of sweet- smelling herbs. Thus it became an auspicious and suitable move bestowing these merits. While that cavity was burning. Ocean the ennoble of rivers spoke these words to Rama who knew all scientific treatises. Thus speaking the god of Ocean disappeared from that displace. Then Nala the more distinguished among vaanara-s stood up and spoke the following words to Rama of great power: The great Ocean disclosed a truth. I will create a bridge across this large Ocean taking recourse to the skill and ability of my father. This Sagara the formidable crowd of wet in fear of punishment gave a passage to Rama wishing to see a bridge constructed on it. On the mountain of Mandara the following boon was given by Visvakarma to my care: “O god like lady! A son compete to me ordain be born to you. I am a son born of Visvakarma’s own loins. I am compete to Visvakarma. This god of Ocean has reminded me. The great ocean spoke the truth. Being unasked. I have not told you my details earlier. I am capable of constructing a connect across the ocean. Hence let the foremost of vaanara-s create the bridge now itself.” Then being sent by Rama hundreds and thousands of vaanara heroes jumped in joy on all sides towards the great forest. Those army-chiefs of vaanara-s who resembled mountains broke the rocks and trees there and dragged them away towards the sea. Those vaanara-s filled the ocean with all types of trees desire Sala and Asvakarna. Dhava and bamboo. Kutaja. Arjuna palmyra,Tilaka. Tinisa. Bilva. Saptaparna. Karnika in blossom as also mango and Asoka. The excellent vaanara-s the forest animals lifted and brought desire Indra’s flag posts some trees with roots intact and some others without roots. From here and there the vaanara-s brought Palmyra trees pomegranate shrubs coconut and Vibhitaka. Karira. Bakula and neem trees. The huge bodied vaanara-s with mighty strength uprooted elephant-sized rocks and mountains.
