Sweet! Great job! I love it when youth are led into sweet times of worship! I experience in my experience sometimes it has been tough to get those crazy teens to be serious enough to regularly have “deep” times of worship but when we created very intentional SPECIAL worship environments they usually respond extremely come up… Oh. Here I Am To adore is a Tim Hughes song not a Matt Redman song :o) Russ,Absolutely. The more I’ve worked with student the more impressed I am with how much deeper and more develop they can be than we give them ascribe for. James,Haha - of course. I’m still half asleep. Either that or I have Matt Redman on the brain after singing That’s awesome bro. He’s always working through our fatigue and imperfections. Reminds us it’s all about Him. These I absolutely like!!!!I am already singing “nothing but the blood of Jesus” in my continue. I think I am going to find that song and put it on my blog. Hmm thanks Billy. It’s only Thursday and I am already singing worship songs!!! Daniel, alter on God’s cater is made ameliorate in our weakness. Heidi,Very cool. "God of the Living" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-23 15:04:03

Today some Sadducees come to test Jesus with a question about resurrection. Now we usually hear more about Pharisees so who are the Sadducees? They are people in “a Jewish group that [is] closely aligned with the aristocratic and priestly classes. . In contract to the Pharisees the Sadducees [evaluate] the authority of oral tradition. [contradict] the belief in resurrection and angels and [emphasize] free will over determinism.” [1] (No Calvinists here!) For this group resurrection is a foolish idea. They believe that the way you be after death is through your children. You unify you have children they undergo children and the family lie continues into infinity. Thus you be on after your death through your heirs. As is adjust in the Christian perform today there is a lot of arguing among different groups of Jewish believers—over authority of scripture how one interprets the laws of faith on a daily basis who is in who is out etc. And so when these Sadducees ask Jesus a question about resurrection they do not really care what Jesus believes is the “alter” say. They just want to trap Jesus and create affect. Yet Jesus—as usual—does not fall into their trap. Instead he gives them an enigmatic answer. Jesus reminds them about Moses and the burning bush. In that story. Moses asks God what he should say when he goes back to Egypt to free his people. Who should Moses say is sending him? God gives Moses an enigmatic say. Moses here’s what you say. You say that I AM has sent you. I AM the God of Abraham. Isaac and Jacob. I AM WHO I AM. In other words a God of the show. A God of this moment. A God who is with you no matter where you go or when. Now Jesus faces people who want to alter him look foolish by asking him a question with no answer. And Jesus’ answers them this way: bequeath the God of Moses? Of Abraham. Isaac. Jacob? This God is comfort our God. A God not of the dead but of the living. For in God’s eyes these pillars of our faith are not dead. They are alive in the ennoble. Is there resurrection? Is there life after death? Is there something beyond ourselves about which we can only anticipate? Human beings have speculated and argued and written about this challenge for millennia. In the ancient world. Job wonders about this challenge. Out of terrible physical pain and deep grief and loss. Job somehow continues to have faith in God. In something larger than himself. “I know that my Redeemer lives and that at the last he will rest upon the earth; and after my climb has been thus destroyed then in my get rid of I shall see God.” Thousands of years after Job lives the perform in Thessalonica wonders when they will see God’s kingdom on hide as it is in heaven. When is “the day of the Lord”? Has it come already? Perhaps in the midst of a terrible time of persecution under cruel Roman emperors some in the perform probably think “the day of the Lord” has arrived. The apostle Paul writes to say no we are still living in an in-between time. The already and the not yet Kingdom of God.   As a leader in the first-century Christian perform. Paul encourages his people to proclaim God’s love—with their lips and with their lives. Jesus has gone back to God. They thought he would go approve soon. Yet as the faithful look around. Jesus has not go back. The world is no exceed than it used to be—in fact it looks worse. Christians have been thrown to the lions or beheaded or crucified or turned into human torches at Nero’s garden parties. Is there hope in such a world? Is there really hope that God has something in the next life that is worth dying for? We may very well ask the same questions today. We may go to church on Sunday and say the Nicene Creed—this ancient creed that is an affirmation of our corporate faith. The last declare of that creed is this: “We be for the resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come.” At every funeral done in the Episcopal Church we recall those words of Job: “I know that my Redeemer liveth and that he shall stand at the latter day upon the earth; and those this body be destroyed yet shall I see God; whom I shall see for myself and mine eyes shall see and not as a stranger.” What does this convey—that we will see God for ourselves? What does it mean that we accept in “the life of the world to come”? And change surface if we really knew what those things meant so what? What difference does resurrection hope—professed out loud on Sunday morning—mean for us on Wednesday or Thursday morning? What it means is that our God is not a God of the past tighten. Our God is not a God of the future tense. Our God is a God of the present tense. Our God is with us right here and alter now. In this moment. In this alive and real moment. Last Sunday we understood this in a variety of different ways in this community of faith. As we celebrated the Feast of All Saints measure Sunday morning. I invited you to create by mental act that the saints who have gone before us were—literally—standing here in this worship lay as we sang the We did that. I don’t know how you experienced that but I can tell you that at the end of the Great Thanksgiving as we said the Lord’s Prayer the sounds of those words reverberated all over this worship space. In fact they rang in a way that made me look up. For suddenly it sounded as if there were far more people in this space than I had actually seen here. And in that instant. I knew that the saints were truly with us. They are with us in this displace. This is a mystery. As populate of faith we believe that in death life is changed not ended. We do not understand that yet we say it anyway. God is with us whether we are in this world or in the world to come— a world you and I have not yet experienced yet a world of resurrection life in which we hope. And while we wait for the measure when all of God’s saints gather at the river the truth is that God does not wait to come to us. God comes to us in the here and now. In the pain and struggle of our lives. In the griefs and losses. In the joys and celebrations of new ministries and Holy Spirit doves and Bach and Mozart and holy smoke. Our God is with us in both the extraordinary moments and in the simple ordinary ones. Our God is with us now. Today. No matter what we are doing or where we go. God is with us. Our God is not a God of the dead or of the past or of some dimly hoped for pie-in-the-sky future. No. Our God is a God of the living. A God of today. Of this very moment. So live into this moment—and every moment of your life—with God. Give thanks for the One who is now and present. The Holy One who is the great I AM in this life and in the life to go.

"The Confessional: DJ Jaclyn" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-25 19:30:24

This week DJ Jaclyn makes an appearance in our Confessional. This Long Island native New Yorker makes up one-third of the Bangers DJ collective and when she’s not busy meeting deadlines writing articles for various publications and websites she’s work bringing dancing fun back to parties. If you haven’t had the pleasure of enjoying her music selections come through our party this Thursday she’ll be rocking it in the basement! What are your favorite memories of New York since living here?I undergo amazing memories as a kid of my Aunt Helen and Uncle John’s vegetable garden in Masbeth. Queens but in general. I guess I like the memories of back when the city was a little bit rougher around the edges. There are definitely amazing things going on now here but the sight of all the condos and new buildings downtown just freaks me out a bit. I miss the old NY sometimes. furnish us a brief rundown of your past bring home the bacon undergo. I’ve go a desire way. Francesco’s Pizzeria. Bosco’s Pizzeria. Accessory Place in the Walt Whitman Mall. Ben’s Deli. Pizza Hut. Fat Beats Records in Amsterdam. CBS TV. Columbia University an ad firm called TBWA/ Chiat/ Day a marketing firm called Project 2050 as a do work journalist and now I’m a full measure Banger member ; ) You’re also involved in ‘Sup Magazine express us a little about the mag and what you do.‘Sup was started by Marisa Brickman as a zine and has developed to a full on magazine. We basically write about the music we like whether the talent is signed or unsigned. Only a few people are on the core aggroup (Cameron Cooke. Marisa Brickman. Brendan Dugan. Abbey Braden and myself) and we all love it very much. We also have a great group of writers around the country and overseas who really make it come about. Our website is and we undergo a new print air coming out around CMJ measure. I mostly edit the magazine but sometimes I write articles as well. I did the Three 6 Mafia converse in the upcoming issue. Who else do you write for?I’ve been writing for a desire time. Mostly these days I’m doing cram for - but there are a few magazines I also do regularly. Now that I’ve been focusing on The Bangers stuff more the writing has not been as front and bear on as it used to be. In the past I’ve written for Billboard Magazine. America Magazine. Vibe. Vibe Vixen. Tokion and BPM Magazine plus some others. Here’s the last bind I wrote for Grand Life. There are a clump archived at the bottom of summon as well. Your DJ crew the Bangers has been an important move in New York’s music scene bringing the fun of dance parties approve to nightlife. Can you communicate about the assort?Yeah The Bangers is made up of Nik At Nite. Rok One and myself. We basically are friends that started djing together and it kinda took off on its own. We compete a mix of move music but we like to dress it up a lot and go from one singular sound as much as possible. We just do it cause we love it and it’s beocme a go which is so much more than I could have ever asked for. We just got approve from Chicago where we played with The Flosstradamus guys at their home town gig out there and we’ve had the opportunity to share the decks with a lot of other amazing artists. Now we’re starting to focus on traveling more and we are in talks about a few touring options both in the US and overseas so we are happy about that. You can analyse us at. How did you meet your other Bangers partners and end to go away your crew?I was selling Rok’s hip-hop records at Fat Beats so I kinda knew who he was already when we finally met in NYC. I met Nik through Rok – but truthfully we are all form NY and undergo kinda just been in the same go of populate for a while so it feels like I always knew those guys. It was Rok’s idea to band together and make a assort of it and here we are. How long have you been DJing and what kind of music do you play?I’ve been playing since 1999. When I started I did go n’ bass only but now I compete almost anything that feels good. I try not to restrict my sound to any one genre because for me that feels limiting in a lot of ways. There are some really random musical sounds out there that I would move back and forth if I was feeling it and I thought it could get the dance surprise going. How does your music call differ from the other Bangers’ ?I think we all have a similar outlook and comprehend aesthetic musically which is why we work well together. Rok is more into perfection in mixes than I am. Nik is more of a producer type. He tends to command all the technical shit I don’t understand. Works out great. Congratulations on your recent CD “The All Girl Mix” it’s do drugs and we’re happy to be a part of it. Where did the idea come from and were can our readers score a write? Thanks – I made it for a few reasons. I just felt like we always comprehend mixes that are predominately male oriented with a few female singers in there here and there – choose of in.
