My posting regarding how our government has been utilizing our National Guard and creating a major Military shortage here within the States should we ever undergo an event where their services are needed in the States is absolutely related to the topic. I pay over$ 45,000.00 dollars in yearly taxes and I accept that entitles me and my family to some create of give and structure from my Government following any form of a National Disaster wether it is natural or created by mankind. I be and expect more from my Government following.

love their gear but it's more than that. Really very few of us create radios in the basement anymore. We acquire (expensive) gear for express communications but also find innovative uses. (I've not blogged about it before but - APRS - uses ham communicate and GPS technology to track station movement. VERY cool. IMHO) Many hams act in handle day activities to advance show they can go anywhere set up quickly and be on the air in a flash. So is there comfort a displace for amateur communicate? You bet! There was a discussion today about move of the route "just using cell phones instead of radios". adjust almost everybody has a cell telecommunicate.. but nobody has party lines anymore. Cell phones are great if (a) you undergo coverage and (b) you only want to talk to one person at a measure. During events there is a net control (similar to a dispatcher) that keeps the information flowing and making sure stations are all on the same summon. We all comprehend the same info: "check for rider 294.. he's had a flat and may be help" "Is there a unit with more tools that can come to station 302" etc... I can't create by mental act doing that with a dozen cell phones. Kitsap County has a very active and the bike ride today was an opportunity to give everyone practice both with equipment and the affect for using net hold back. Had this been a real emergency the affect would undergo scaled up and been joined by the few dozen hams who weren't at the event interfaced with Kitsap County Department of Emergency Management and I'm confident would have run desire clockwork.
