A single vehicle crash on I-69 late Sunday afternoon killed five occupants of a van and injured 11 others.  According to the Indiana State guard it’s thought the van occupants were two Amish families.  One family was returning the other from Allen County to Park County after a church.  The only vehicle involved was a 15-passenger van which was southbound on I-69 four miles north of SR 28.   The van left the road and rolled several times ejecting some of the passengers.  A rear tire blowout is thought to have caused the accident.   Seven medical helicopters were called to the scene to transport the injured.  Five of the injured were taken to BMH.   I-69 southbound was closed for 90 minutes and the northbound lanes for four and a half hours as a prove of the crash. Taxing districts in Madison County received a rate late last week.  But with collections due in December and disbursement not expected until January the situation for local units is more problematic than ever.  Kevin Brown financial analyst for the Anderson Community Schools Corp. said without the spring and fall draws the district was forced to borrow $22 million to cover expenses. On Friday. Madison County published rates for all 39 taxing districts in the county. Bills are expected to go out in mid-November with a due date of Dec. 10.  Brown said ACS has borrowed more than normal from the Indiana Bond Bank and swapped funds between accounts to make up the shortfall. He worries that money will be delayed even longer should collections come in slowly. An Elwood man is being treated for injuries at an Indianapolis hospital after police pulled him from a burning transport Friday morning.  William A. Bambrough Jr is being treated for severe burns to his upper body after Elwood police discovered him in the cab of hispickup at about 5 a m.. Capt. Carl Caldwell said in a news release.  Bambrough was initially taken to St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood but was later transported by helicopter to Wishard Hospital in Indianapolis. Police and firefighters were called to the straighten of Bambrough’s domiciliate at 402 N. Anderson St. at about 4:45 a m on a inform of a vehicle on fire.  When they arrived the truck’s cab and bed were fully engulfed in flames. As firefighters were getting the fire under hold back they discovered Bambrough belted into the driver’s seat.

Teaming up with a band of volunteers a few dozen caulking guns and a heart to serve. United Way of Madison County ordain pay this Saturday helping dozens of Madison County residents alter their homes into energy-efficient dwellings for its annual Day of Caring. Operation: Weatherization will take teams of volunteers into local homes to tackle domiciliate energy-saving projects like caulking and weather-stripping. Teams of five volunteers and one leader will pay the day weatherizing a pre-selected home.
