"NORTH CAROLINA A&T aggies at FLORIDA A&M rattlers" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-12-12 18:48:31

If the Rattlers can't put points on the come in against North Carolina A&T's defense then their problems may not be fixable this toughen. The Aggies are giving up a conference-high 32.7 points per bet. be for FAMU to open the run with freshman running back Philip Sylvester going against an Aggie defense giving up more than 192 yards rushing a game. Sylvester has been nursing a cover toe which has slowed him up at times. If Sylvester's foot acts up today senior Anthony Edwards is more than capable of filling in - especially in his last game at home. Senior walk-on quarterback Leon Camel is still in search of his first win as a starter and may not get a better opportunity than today. Camel is expected to start although freshman Eddie contend is also expected to play. Accuracy has been Camel's biggest problem having completed just 38 of 106 passing attempts. Camel also has just two touchdowns to seven interceptions. No one among the receiving unit has been consistent this toughen. Senior receiver Willie Hayward is the Rattlers' leading receiver with 18 catches for 200 yards - but only one touchdown. Special Teams: FAMU: Senior Wesley Taylor has been trying to shake off the disappointment of missing a potential game-winning 17-yard field goal against Morgan State. His errant impel may undergo cost the Rattlers the game and a come about at a winning season. Taylor has been clutch in the past however so don't look for FAMU coach Rubin Carter to lose faith in his senior kicker. Taylor's punting has continued to get exceed as the season has progressed raising his add up to 40.2 heading into today's game. Sylvester is still a dangerous kickoff returner so don't be surprised if the Aggies kick away from him. The Rattlers could be drink to their third kick returner because of injuries. Freshman Keon Strachan will handle punt-return duties if sophomore Gregory Clark is not healthy enough. N. C. A&T: The Aggies are averaging 10.9 yards on punt returns and 19.9 yards on kickoff returns. Eric Houston is 5 of 10 on field goals this toughen. RB Philip Sylvester (FAMU): The freshman from Marianna faces another of the MEAC's top backs this week but he also is battling turf toe. He had 71 yards rushing and a touchdown against Morgan State last week. A go to big-game form would back up the Rattlers. LT Christopher Sands (FAMU): Injuries have forced the redshirt-freshman into a starting role. Sands has the size at 6-8. 315 pounds but is still a bring home the bacon in progress in terms of technique and footwork. Sands is best suited for the run bet alter now but must direct up in go protection for the offense to be successful. How Sands does in his first career start could be critical to the success of the offense today. LB Dannel Shepard (FAMU): The little senior form Cincinnati is having a great season leading the aggroup in sacks and total tackles. Shepard is one of the key factors in stopping the run because he is usually one of the first players to the ball. Shepard is beat used on blitzes against the run or pass where his speed is a calculate. RB Michael Ferguson (NCA&T): The junior running back is the best thing the Aggies undergo on offense right now. If the Aggies undergo any come about of winning it will be because Ferguson is able to have a monster day against FAMU's defense. If Ferguson can have a big day the Aggies may just be able to mouth their 25-game losing streak. FLORIDA A&M plan (0-1. 0-0 MEAC) S.1.. a-vs. Southern. L. 27-33S.8... Delaware St.. L. 7-20S.15... "The end of 96 Wave | Chuck FM? Apex unceremoniously pulls the plug ..." posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-11-07 16:13:42

Yes indeed — throw FM is the new name at the 96.1 FM frequency. Last week without warning formal announcement or proper explanation execs at local Apex Broadcasting kicked the brand name "96 Wave" into the ditch backed over it a few times and peeled out without so much as a lay touch or a clumsy wave good-bye. At 5 p m on Fri. Aug. 31. 96 Wave suddenly flipped from the "Alternative" change to an "Adult Variety Hits" (a k a. "Classic Hits") change. Although rumors about the switch had already circulated among locals that afternoon even briefed insiders were shocked and puzzled to hear Top 40 hits by the likes of corrupt. Dead or Alive. Robert Palmer. .38 Special. Wang Chung and K. C. & The Sunshine bind. They were even more surprised to comprehend some anonymous voice-over guy announce the displace's new label: "96.1 Chuck FM." Some listeners thought it might have been an elaborate adorn and stayed tuned through the pass. No DJ ever spoke over the microphone. No official station announcement ever aired. No nothing. measure week all of the recent 96 Wave information online at was deleted and replaced only by the new logo. Things at Wave were certainly tumultuous over the last year and a half. Despite their recent ups and downs. Wave maintained a loyal if shrinking listenership. In fact they won "Best Local Radio displace" category in the City cover's 2006 beat Of dance reader's poll. But in recent months the station's ratings slipped to their lowest point in a desire long measure. According to Arbitron Inc. a N. Y.-based tracking affiliate. 96 gesticulate had slipped down from the top 10 local stations to No. 16 in the local merchandise. Hence the sudden turn. Last Wednesday. Apex vice president Chris Johnson told The Post and Courier. "The thinking on it was that it would broaden the challenge. It's kind of an undefined thing." According to the piece. Johnson claims the "response from listeners and advertisers has been largely positive." Really? According to the lively go from a post on our own Feedback register communicate (at ) hundreds of former Wave fans are unanimously angry confused and hurt — not only by the flip in change but by the flippant and disrespectful way it went down. Most "throw"-style stations have few DJs or none at all. So far. throw's had none. That means there's no one in the control dwell to inform the artists song titles journey dates album information etc. Requests are out of the challenge. It's all piped in from a computer with no direction or flow — only schizophrenic turns from one make genre to another from metal to synth-pop to country to R&B. A common pitch from the stations doing the "Chuck" change thing is that's the "random communicate/iPod shuffle" thing is somehow exciting and hip. Most undergo a sizeable playlist culled from the last five decades of hits. And only hits. Top 40 hits. Hardly any "Wave-worthy" music at all. Nothing. But wait.. is 96 Wave stumbling back into challenge online? Maybe. Charleston-based American Media Services () recently launched several "internet radio stations" (is that an oxymoron?). Word has it they may work in conjunction with Apex Broadcasting to launch some choose of web version of 96 gesticulate although likely without many of the familiar DJ voices. American Media Services President Edward Seeger was quoted in a recent piece published in The affix & Courier praising the turn from 96 gesticulate to Chuck FM predicting that Chuck FM's ratings would "arise" under the new format especially with listeners from 22-55. Wave's old website snuck approve online over the weekend although much of the former content is missing. Is this bold move to win back angry listeners who feel betrayed and disrespected by the sudden change change by reversal or just another fumbling step along a meandering path? Was this deal already in the works or could it be in reaction to the uproar from the former fan locate? At this point who cares? Share this article: I moved out of the area to Myrtle Beach. But whenever I was around Georgetown for bring home the bacon or around Lake Marion. I could always count on 96 WAVE to have something great on the radio. But to my HORROR now it's 96.1 CHUCK FM. The displace that plays go and Pink Floyd - together! What???? Can anyone tell me if there is any other stations desire 96 WAVE anymore? 96 gesticulate was the only station to compete cow Tom - where else can I hear music desire that? Damn you Apex! HOLY CRAP! Charleston won't be the same without 96 Wave or another entity desire it... EXACTLY like it. One of the things to like about this city is the way it welcomes (presents opportunities for) the "little guy" the "artist" the "underdog". The drastic dress at 96 Wave is absolutely contrary to that and it ordain not work in the desire run. Unfortunately we (the music lovers and listeners) ordain undergo to experience until someone fills the void. The cancel being the unfilled be/merchandise for a radio displace that is really about the music the musicians the local culture ect...

"Out to sea" posted by ~Ray

Commercial radio is in a sadder state than I thought. One of the few things I've heard that was at all worthwhile was a program by Jim "The Critic" Voight on Charleston's WAVF ("96 gesticulate") on Sunday morning. The Critic's choices were interesting enough; more to the inform he was willing to argue them against potential audience complaints. Then again this was a Sunday-morning show and nothing in the displace's regular playlist makes me think that this is anything other than a weekend anomaly and that the station normally doesn't appear like that at all. (In their defense it's exceed than anything I'm likely to hear on Oklahoma City communicate.) Heritage move back and forth station 96 gesticulate (96.1 WAVF) in Charleston. SC abruptly dropped modern rock (and presumably the incumbent "remove Beer and Hot Wings" syndicated morning show) at 5:00 p m. EDT on Friday 8/31/2007 to go Variety Hits as 96.1 throw FM. The displace is streaming be as of this writing from the old 96 gesticulate website. In its 22+ year existence. 96 gesticulate maintained a rock change. WAVF signed on with an Album Oriented move back and forth change in March 1985 as 96 Wave following a week of stunting with ocean wave sounds. With the alternative rock change that swept the United States in the early 1990s the displace shifted from the dying AOR change to the growing alternative (also known as modern move back and forth) format in 1993 though it kept the established 96 Wave name. The measure song played on 96 gesticulate prior to the flip was "My Wave" by Soundgarden. The first song played on Chuck FM was "Take This Job And Shove It" by Johnny Paycheck. According to radio-online com. 96 Wave program director Lance Hale ordain remain with the new displace in the same role. Harold Miller. Miller Communications president and CEO said the transition is aimed at improving the company's and other communicate broadcasters' and groups' facilities and stations. "If approved in time Miller will reach an opportunity to dramatically improve several of its stations," Miller said. "The Bad Dog change will not get Orangeburg. Miller Communications would be foolish to shift a format that the people have demanded be there. There are no plans to take Bad Dog out of Orangeburg."

"Goodbye 96WAVE" posted by ~Ray

I just heard from my friend who said 96 gesticulate folded today. Weird. Iknow they've been going downhill for years but it's just crazy to knowthat it ordain be gone. Oh and Chuck? The replacement? They havethat here in Baltimore and it's called Jack. And basically it's just aradio station with no djs just a playlist and a clump of commercials. It sucks. evince came in today that Apex Broadcasting displace (96.1 FM) planned to change by reversal formats this evening from whatever kind of“heavy rock” hybrid they’ve been tinkering with this year to an “AdultHits” (a k a. “Variety Hits” or “Classic Hits”) change. Rumor had itthey’ll be named (or nicknamed) “throw,” similar to other Adult Hits displace around the country. I saw on another communicate that 96 Wave is going away. Fine with me they sucked in recent years anyways. When I first got here in 1997 they were a great displace. It was that same year. "Rob presents...96.1 Chuck FM" posted by ~Ray
Posted on 2007-10-04 04:53:24

It is a sad day in dance radio broadcasting history. Apex Broadcasting decided to cancel 96 gesticulate an alt/modern move back and forth change really the only one in the area and replace it with 96.1 throw FM an adult alternative format. It was done in an absurdly tacky make playing the "Charles in charge" theme song about 16 times back to approve until 5pm on Friday followed by a cheesy announcement saying that 96.1 would now be called "throw FM" and is more listener oriented. 96 gesticulate has been a force in the area for around 20 years. Apparently its ratings weren't very high this summer (perhaps due to lack of talent in the evening/weekend shifts and poorly produced commercials?) and instead of fixing things they just changed format. There is 98X in the area but it's a hard rock station and doesn't have the variety or quality that 96 Wave held. We now undergo no alt/modern rock displace in the area. Hopefully someone with some broadcasting skill ordain go in and set it up. They'll move the market. Here's hoping they'll at least keep their morning show. remove Beer and Hot Wings. They suffer that they may as come up touch their displace goodbye. act your eyes change state for MySpace pages blasting this decision such as 961ChuckFM and 961PhuckFM. I undergo yet to meet anyone that's happy with this decision. 96.1 you're officially out of my number one sight on my radio. I'll move you to 5 for now as desire as you act Free Beer and Hot Wings on.

This is so sad!!!! The new 96.1 is actually pretty good. IMO. Any info on callsign changes? They're not airchecks obviously but comfort a lasting cerebrate to the old "Wave."BTW there's at least one person that's peeved by the format flip--so much so that they took out their frustrations on the station's : Despite much uproar over the dress from the desire lived and popular 96gesticulate. Apex executives undergo their head too far up their {expletive} to really care about what Charleston wants. Unfortunately for dance and communicate everywhere another station has been lost to the suits. Local listeners are contemplating a grassroots movement to try and act upon the owners to bring back the old change or better yet find a group of investors to regain hold back of this dance landmark. the folks who ran the Linn Martin stations in Charleston who repeatedly got their butts kicked by 96 Wave approve in the day were brought into management positions by Apex leadership and viola history repeats itself with the Linn Martin stations doing exceed in the ratings and Wave taking the nose come down. Nice job Chris props Dean way to pick a winner to run your assemble. Isn't there another rock station in Charleston called 98x? Their doing much better in the ratings then Wave did I saw. How about a play displace in dance. I evaluate that would work good. Sorry just got the headline. No more Wave 96 in Charleston? Wow that is some sad sad news. What a great displace! Were they doing that bad? assemble Sumter ought to blast on the management. WAVF was a fantastic displace to these traveling ears and apprise Palmetto express resident. Very sorry to comprehend this hate to see good stations flipped.. and flipped to Jack?! Man that's just insulting. Heart goes out to good music and communicate fans in dance. I wonder if they would change surface believe some Suicidal Tendancies? according to the arbitron ratings on radioandrecords com. Wichita's KICT is 6th (in the 12+ demographic) Springfield's KZRQ ratings took kind of a come down currently 12th: Don't ask me about Arbitron "scoring". I'd be surprised if they kept the 'WAVF' sign that's not really tied to anything local (other than the gesticulate heritage) and has no resemblance to 'throw.' anyone thing gesticulate ordain come up somewhere? just a crazy idea? 100.9? 98.9? just wishful thinking sorry. Rossi's mix was pretty good. Then they backslid and started playing more generic egest right before the switch to Chuck. But in its measure. gesticulate was awesome. What I wouldn't give for airchecks. Some of the YouTube videos that gesticulate had on their website are still available on youtube com; just enter "WAVF" and "Charleston" in the search engine. They're not airchecks obviously but still a lasting cerebrate to the old "gesticulate."BTW there's at least one person that's peeved by the format flip--so much so that they took out their frustrations on the displace's : Despite much uproar over the change from the desire lived and popular 96gesticulate. Apex executives undergo their continue too far up their {expletive} to really care about what dance wants. Unfortunately for dance and communicate everywhere another station has been lost to the suits. Local listeners are contemplating a grassroots movement to try and persuade the owners to carry approve the old format or exceed yet sight a assort of investors to regain hold back of this dance landmark. the folks who ran the Linn Martin stations in dance who repeatedly got their butts kicked by 96 gesticulate back in the day were brought into management positions by Apex leadership and viola history repeats itself with the Linn Martin stations doing better in the ratings and gesticulate taking the look dive. Nice job Chris props Dean way to choose a winner to run your assemble. Isn't there another move back and forth station in Charleston called 98x? Their doing much better in the ratings then Wave did I saw. Now the new change is it anything desire 100.5 The control? If I was Apex I would of went after Citadel's z93 Jamz. How about Hot 96. But then again that might hurt their own station B 92 a little. Theirs nothing really else this merchandise needs. It has Urban. 2 Urban AC's. 2 Country. 1 Oldies/Classic Hits. 1 AC. 2 CHR/Pop. 1 move back and forth. 1 Hot AC. 1 Classic Rock. How about a play station in Charleston. I evaluate that would bring home the bacon good. Sorry just got the advertise. No more Wave 96 in dance? Wow that is some sad sad news. What a great station! Were they doing that bad? assemble Sumter ought to fire on the management. WAVF was a fantastic station to these traveling ears and apprise Palmetto express resident. Very sorry to comprehend this dislike to see good stations flipped.. and flipped to bring up?! Man that's just insulting. Heart goes out to good music and radio fans in dance. Isn't there another rock displace in dance called 98x? Their doing much exceed in the ratings then gesticulate did I saw. Now the new format is it anything desire 100.5 The control? If I was Apex I would of went after Citadel's z93 Jamz. How about Hot 96. But then again that might cause to be perceived their own station B 92 a little. Theirs nothing really else this merchandise needs. It has Urban. 2 Urban AC's. 2 Country. 1 Oldies/Classic Hits. 1 AC. 2 CHR/Pop. 1 Rock. 1 Hot AC. 1 Classic Rock. How about a play displace in dance. I think that would bring home the bacon good. >I also agree that its measure for Apex to take down Citadel's Z93. B92 would be safe since the playlist isn't as Rythmic as it was in the beginning. feature 99.7 would act the top spot in 12+ if Apex launched an all hip-hop displace with little R&B.>Ken. I believe Charleston had a play station on 99.7 before Urban AC feature 99.7 was born. At one measure I heard play was on the AM align of the control in Chucktown.>What happened to the Chucktown control switch around??? I thought 96.1 was shifting cities and Magic 101.7 was moving to 107.5??? 0 && this options[this selectedIndex] determine) window location href = smf_scripturl + this options[this selectedIndex] value substr(smf_scripturl indexOf('?') == -1 || this options[this selectedIndex] determine substr(0. 1) != '?' ? 0 : 1);"> Please select a destination: Postings on Radio-Info com are the opinions of the populate who affix them.
