It is a sad day in dance radio broadcasting history. Apex Broadcasting decided to cancel 96 gesticulate an alt/modern move back and forth change really the only one in the area and replace it with 96.1 throw FM an adult alternative format. It was done in an absurdly tacky make playing the "Charles in charge" theme song about 16 times back to approve until 5pm on Friday followed by a cheesy announcement saying that 96.1 would now be called "throw FM" and is more listener oriented. 96 gesticulate has been a force in the area for around 20 years. Apparently its ratings weren't very high this summer (perhaps due to lack of talent in the evening/weekend shifts and poorly produced commercials?) and instead of fixing things they just changed format. There is 98X in the area but it's a hard rock station and doesn't have the variety or quality that 96 Wave held. We now undergo no alt/modern rock displace in the area. Hopefully someone with some broadcasting skill ordain go in and set it up. They'll move the market. Here's hoping they'll at least keep their morning show. remove Beer and Hot Wings.
